Hi Charting expert ladies!! I need some help! Encouragement....pretty much anything at this point...so I'm on CD 57 and my temps are all over the place...I'm almost 100% certain I've got PCOS though I've only discovered PCOS since I came here so I don't know how to bring it up to my doc (or even how to find a doc..I went to a gyn where I used to live, but I need to find one in Little Rock) which brings me to my question...how much longer should I wait before going to a doc about not having a period (or even ovulating)? I know a lot of PCOS girls on here have cycles that last 90+ days, so they must be thinking 'psh, 50 days you're barely getting started' but this is getting me so bummed! There are normal women who are finishing their 2nd cycle and I'm not even halfway through my first! I know I shouldn't compare myself to other people, but I just want to have regular periods once a month and I'm not going to get to have that!

ETA: is there any point in taking a test? It's not physically possible for me to be pg if I haven't ovulated is it?

No, it's not possible to be pregnant if you haven't ovulated.

Is this your first cycle charting? How long have you been TTC? Have you always had long cycles??

I think you could make an appointment now to talk to a Dr. about having long cycles. You can bring your chart in and go from there.

Ask some friends you trust who their GYN's are and call one of them to be your new doc. Given that your cycle is almost 60 days right now, tell them it has been two months without a period and you aren't pregnant. They will probably make you take another pregnancy test in office, then possibly draw blood to test your progesterone, prolactin, testosterone, and other levels. Mention that you are wondering about PCOS because of the long cycles.

Anything over 45 days is considered abnormal and most GYN's will try to jump start your cycle after that. Good luck!

That's exactly what we do in our office. I would ask around like Jennifer said to find a reliable gyn, and get in asap to see them.

Good luck to you! Hope you get some answers!!!

Thanks for the answers everyone! Lindsey, what I meant to say is, looking at my chart, is it even possible that I've ovulated and just didn't see it? I didn't know what CM I was looking at, so I originally put in "C" just because, but I really think at least one of those was EWCM. There haven't been any repeats, like I'm gearing up to or anything, so is it possible that I did?
Should I just go to a doctor, like through the local hospital? Or should I go ahead and try and find a midwife? How would you even go about finding one of them?

I would also be sure to mention to your gyn that you are TTC. If you don't have any symptoms other then irregular cycles (like I do) especially if they are not always irregular, they may tell you it is normal. But if you are sure to mention you are TTC it will hopefully ensure they look more into it rather then dismiss it as normal right off the bat.

And I agree with getting a referral from a friend, or even an acquaintance. Just say that you need a gyno and ask if they like theirs, most women are happy to share who their gyno is.

If you don't know what kind of CM you're seeing, and you missed some EWCM, I suppose it's possible that you did miss ovulation, or your body tried to ovulate, but it didn't happen.

I would look through the phone book and look for gyn's--and then ask around. Hopefully you will find a good one on the first try!

I recommend trying to find a reproductive endocrynologist if you believe you might have PCOS. If you have confidence in your doctor's office, I would ask them to recommend or refer you to a specialist. Whether it's a gyn or R. Endo. doctor. Most dr's offices are very helpful to refer you to a specialist. Something else you might do is to look on your insurance coverage to see what dr's are in network on your insurance plan. My insurance company actually has a website where you can search for dr's online and it also has a rating scale they use to rate the dr's. Whatever you decide, you need to do something to find out what is going on with your cycles. I have found that often times family physicians will just put off the issues so it is definitely best to try and get an appointment with a specialist. Several years ago, I read an article about PCOS and immediately thought that I might have it. I called my dr's office and asked them to refer me to an endocrynologist and within a few hours they called back with a couple of names. It should be as easy as that. I originally went and saw a regular endoccrynologist. However, I recommend a reproductive endocrynologist since you are TTC. I hope this helps you out. Good luck! Message me anytime!

(((HUGS))) I looked at your chart and I do not believe you have ovulated yet. If you don't have a friend to get a referral I would just look through your insurance book for providers or use the phone book. I have seen doctors before just from looking through the phone book. If you go and get a bad vibe you can always find a new doctor but I think you should go see the doc. If you weren't trying to conceive this might be something you could put off but the longer you go without seeing a doctor, the longer it might take for you to get pregnant. Bring your chart and tell them your concerns. I suspect that you may have PCOS just from looking at your chart but I am no PCOS expert. Do you have any of the other symptoms?
