Hey everyone! My husband comes home from Iraq end of September for 18 days (going into October). I'm on birthcontrol now (hormones for acne and he just left) and I'm going off of it as soon as I can. I'm trying to figure out how to fiddle w/ my cycle and get myself to ovulating when he is home.

-When should I go off of it?

-I start the placebos Dec 26th, putting my cycle when?

-How can I make it so my ovulation is like october 3rd or 4th around there?

Thank you!!!!

I would go off of the BCPs soon. It will take a while for your system to get back to normal. I'm on CD 1 of my 4th cycle post BCPs, and I'm still not back to normal.

I would also recommend the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book, and a charting software such as Ovusoft or Fertility friend, to assist you in charting.

Coming off of BCPs, there is not real way that you can control when you are going to start ovulating again, or the timing of it. To try to time it for October already would be incredibly difficult. Get the hang of charting for a few months and see if you become regular.

And on another note, my DH is in Iraq as well. Let me know if if you ever need anything along those lines as well.

There is no way to really control your ovulation for a certain time frame unless your doctor medicates you, and even then it is not guaranteed. Your best bet is to come off BCP's now, and start charting to see what is going on with your cycle.

Good luck!

You're definitely doing the right thing to start going off BC now, instead of later! For some people, it takes a while to get your body back to "normal" and ovulate.

I wish you the best of luck, and don't hesitate to ask us any questions!!
