if it's just spotting, or if it should be interpreted as CD 1?

My temp dropped considerably this AM and I had some brown "flow" when I peed. TMI, sorry!

I marked it as CD 1, light AF, on fertility friend, and my cycle started over.

But since then (and that was at 6 AM, 5 hrs ago), I haven't had anything else.

Now---I know I am not pregnant--this is typical for me, temp drops, AF usually starts that day or the next.

But how do you tell the difference between spotting and light AF?

Going off my temps--seems like today should be CD1.

Thoughts?

Leave spotting or very light days with the previous cycle because it's pre-menstrual bleeding. This is so you can calculate an accurate Luteal Phase length (important for diagnosing problems).

If ovulation has been confirmed, the first day of menstruation is the first day of real flow - heavy enough to require more than just a pantyliner.

Hope that helps!

I used to have this same question but i finally figuredit out. i usually spot several days before my AF. I don't count my first cycle day until it is a steady flow and i have my severe cramps like i always do. the cramps let me know i have started. i don't get them with spotting.

it doesn't count until it's enough to need a pad or tampon.

Also, I use to judge mine based on the color at the beginning of the cycle. If it wasn't a full on flow, or red, I would count it as spotting. I never had just red spotting though.

Good luck!

FF automatically changes to a new cycle when you input light/med/heavy.

I also do the colour thing for spotting. But I usually spot for one day then bam she's here, so I don't have trouble telling the difference!
