So I got my first CHs This is my 2nd cycle off BCPs, but first cycle charting.

I started using OPKs on CD10. CD10 and CD11 were almost stark white OPKs. But the AM of CD 12 was a positive with both lines being equal, my mid-day, the test line was darker, by night it was back to equal again. CD13 in the AM, it was almost back to stark white again. I thouhgt the color was supposed to build gradually? Does anyone else have this sharp of an LH surge? Does it mean anything is wrong?

How does FF decide what day you ovulate? It says I O'd on CD12. I got a pos OPK on that day and had very light dull cramps, but the morning of the CD13th, I had very strong sharp cramps for about 30 minutes so I think that is when I O'd. Who is right?? haha.

Ovulation pains are a secondary sign because they can happen prior to ovulation (from the follicles in the ovaries being stimulated into action), during ovulation (from the ova actually rupturing through the ovary), or in the days following ovulation (from the contracting of the fallopian tube as it propels the ova along towards the uterus). If you notice pain, do make a note of it - but it doesn't over-ride the information your other signs are giving you (CM, temps, OPK's).

Yes, the LH surge picked up by the OPK can happen very quickly. That's normal and is also why it's good to test twice a day when you're having fertile CM, so you don't miss it.

Charting doesn't actually tell us the *exact* day of ovulation - the only way to know that is by having daily transvaginal ultrasounds. Charting gives us an estimate, but it's a very good estimate because it's accurate +/- 2 days. Ovulation generally occurs on the LAST day you experience slippery CM, but it can also occur up to 2 days after that.
