Hi Ladies,

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/oursweetlabs

I was charting when I got Preggo and by my chart my due date should be April 26, however my last three ultrasounds have given me a due date of April 17.

9 Days apart, So my question is looking at my chart do you think that my chart is wrong or am I just going to have a big boy?

I really want to figure this out as I don't want my doctors to pressure me into induction based on the first date, if it is the wrong date.

Your chart looks right to me. I would say just a bigger baby. If you don't want to be induced and they try, put your foot down and refuse. Tell them you know exactly when you ovulated and you don't want to be induced until you are overdue according to that date. Good luck! Hopefully they listen to you.

hi, I've never posted in here, but I looked at your chart, and my guess if the reason they are off is because you had such a long cycle. they are going by the beginning of your last period-assuming you ovulated on day 14. which would line you up exactly with being due the 17th or so. but since you ovulated over a week past that, you will be due later. let you dr know that you have no problem going with the due date they have given you, but you won't be induced without a reason before 42 weeks. that would put you a few days past the due date you should actually have and would be safe.

also, fyi, the later the ultrasound is done, the less accurate for dating purposes. if you didn't get one done before about 10 weeks, then being off by a week isn't unsual at all. the first couple of weeks the changes in the baby are so dramatic from 1 week to the next that dating is easy. after that they go by femur length, which can only give them a general idea. as long as the ultrasound doesn't seem too far off from the due date according to your period, they won't change it.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

We get this question a lot where I work. I'm a nurse for a midwife at an OB/GYN office. In our office, the EDD is based on your ultrasound. Before the u/s, we go by LMP or date of conception, if you know it. But after that first u/s, that is your DD. We argue with a lot of people about this, but really, the reason why we do it is based on SIZE. If your baby is measuring at the rate of a 41 weeker, and you're only 38 weeks, we want to get that baby OUT! It's based on health risks to both the mother and the baby. However, on the other hand, if you're 38 weeks, and the baby is only measuring 30 weeks in maturity...you can see where I'm going with this.

Keep in mind--I work for a midwife--so we're very pro "keeping the baby in" without medical induction. But, we do them all the time. Some for medical reasons, some just because the patient is over it. Stand your ground if you don't want an induction, but know if there is a medical reason to induce you, the doctors are going to do everything they can to get that induction done, so they don't have to resort to a c-section.

Good luck!
