I typically go by average LP, but that totally threw me off this last cycle. Typically the LP is the more stable part of your cycle and ovulation can change from cycle to cycle. It is affected by stress and everything else, so if ovulation is delayed for any reason you total cycle length will be longer than normal. (All this goes out the window if you have a LP defect that can shorten you LP)
