Well, to start I'm Bethany (26) and DH is Patrick (28). We have a daughter Kaily (7.5) and a son Kelly (22 months). Patrick is actually Kaily's step-father, but her bio dad is not involved. We have always wanted a big family, so now that Kelly is almost two, we figured we need to start TTC #3. We would like the next child to be close in age to Kelly, and we realized that time is slipping away!
I stopped taking Nuvaring in July. Took it out July 18th and started AF the 20th. We went on vacation (1st time without the kids!!) July 31st - August 6th. According to a generic ovulation calendar I could have O'd between the 31st and the 5th. We got really excited because we were on vacation and had a really good chance of getting pregnant during that time. But alas AF started yesterday!
But now I am really excited to start charting! I was secretly wishing I could start doing it while waiting for AF. I went out and bought a basal thermometer last night and took my first temp. this morning. I hope my body is easy to read... I am really nervous that my temps will fluctuate too much or I'll be confused on what EWCM actually looks like! I will be praying for clarity during this time so I will get accurate results and get a BFP as soon as possible!
I am a really all or nothing kind of person when it comes to things like this! I don't think I could only check CM or only temp! I want the whole picture and am not satisfied until I have it! So any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to talking to everyone more on the boards!

You can start taking your temps any time during your cycle. If you are charting on FF you just tell it which day in the cycle you are on and it will start listing it on that day. My first cycle of charting I started only a couple days before ovulating, so it's never too late in a cycle to do it! GL and let us know if you have any ?s!

My temp was really high this morning but that's most likely because I screwed it up! I woke up at 4:15am not feeling well. I should have just temped then, but I was still half asleep and thinking it was too early compared to my temp yesterday at 6:15am. Not thinking that it would be more accurate then even if it was early because I had several solid hours of sleep, versus at 7am after not sleeping well.
I am only CD 2, therefore AF is still hanging out. I have a few days to get temping down before it really counts! Hopefully tomorrow night I will get better sleep!

yeah, like you said, temp wasn't extremely vital if you are still on AF. GL!

Thanks Charity! I know it's not that big of a deal... but I am just such a perfectionist that I wanted the whole chart to be accurate! lol That and I want to know I am doing it right before it counts later on in my cycle.

I understand I'm a perfectionist too! Just make sure to try to take it as close to the same time every day as possible. Even set your alarm earlier than you usually get up to temp and then go back to sleep. I don't do that, but I do get up about the same time every day. On days that the timing is off a little FF will indicate it with an open circle. I also make sure to keep track of it in my notes so that I can go back and look at it and know which dates the temps might be a little off. GL!

My temp went down this morning, like it should. I woke up at 4am again (not sure why this keeps happening) but I took it then since I knew I wouldn't get another "good" 3 hours of sleep after that. I actually woke up at 9am, I am so lucky DH works from home and can get the kiddos breakfast in the morning sometimes! But I temped then and it was WAY higher.
I think my plan is to NOT set an alarm for a few days, because I think I keep anticipating the alarm and waking up early. Then just whenever I wake up first in the morning I'll take my temp then. I'll see if I fall into a pattern, if not then I will go back to an alarm.
I'm hoping AF is on her way out... she was a lot lighter yesterday, but it's only CD 3 and that is pretty short for her. We'll see!! Take care everyone!

I can't set an alarm for things either... otherwise, like you, I just keep waking up all night worried I'm going to miss it! Now that I've been temping for 1.5 cycles, my body has seemed to naturally wake up between 6:45 and 7:30. So, I temp then and go back to sleep if my son isn't up! GL!!! Hope AF leaves soon!

Arg! I am so mad at myself! Last night I was explaing to DH that I think our son screwed up my thermometer. The back light thing wasn't working anymore, so I kept having to turn my bedside lamp on to read the dang thing. Well when I woke up this morning at 6:30am, I couldn't find my thermometer!! I guess I left it in the bed after talking to DH about it! So I was leaning over the edge looking for it under the bed, ruffling through the sheets... I finally found it and took my temp and of course it was way higher than it has been.
AF is on her way out and I can't seem to get in a good pattern for this temp taking schtuff! I WANT to do this and do it right! How is it that other women are getting accurate results? Why can't I just set an alarm and take it and then go back to sleep? The crappy part is I slept like a LOG last night! And woke up perfectly at 6:30am without an alarm. I could have gotten a good temp. I guess it is just a fluke thing and I will make sure to have it on my nightstand from here on out... just makes me mad!
So, I started a thread on this but I will mention it here too. DH was recently put in charge of a huge project at work but it will require him to travel almost every weekend. Which is awesome for his career but not so awesome for our TTC. I used one of those generic calculators, so if O on CD 14 then we might be in the clear in terms of his travel schedule. I have decided to not worry about it until I know for sure we are going to miss the eggie! It's all on God's time anyway... so I can't be upset, we will get pregnant when he wants us to get pregnant!
Take care everyone!

BabyDreamer ~ Very cool about being close in CD's. Do you know when you are suppose to O? Maybe we can stay on the same cycle and be test buddies! hehe! My son is 23 months, will be two at the end of September. We also have a daughter who is 7.5, so we are TTC #3!

sept 3rd,2009(day 14) is when they said I am suppose to O..... May 28,09 would be my edd if i were to get pregnant this cycle( but there wont be any testing for me unless a miracle happens) cause i am not ttc til i get to my goal weight.....but i still want to support every one in their journies. that is cool that you are ttc # 3. so what would you like our third child to be...a girl or boy? do you know what your expected due date would be...if you conceive this cycle?

My EDD would be May 26th, going by LMP. I am hoping to figure it out according to when I O though.
DH really wants another boy, but I don't care either way. I am thinking we are gonna have a girl though, don't know why. We aren't going to find out the sex until the birth! I have always wanted to be surprised, but always found out for one reason or another. So it will be exciting this time around! That is IF I get my BFP this cycle.

So I figured I should write something since I haven't in a few days. I have a few pics that I have yet to add to my pic post. I keep asking DH to do it for me, but of course it doesn't happen! lol
Teresa told me that timing temping is actually really important! So I set my alarm this morning and took it right at 6am. There are several solid dots in a row now. I slept really well, didn't anticipate the alarm. I think amybe because it is was a new thing and I was excited, that's why it was happening. But now that I have been doing it for a week or so, it's not that big of a deal.
So CD 10, anticipating a positive OPK pretty soon. I have to work at 10am this morning and then tomorrow we are going to a soccer game followed by a birthdya party for me. I am hoping to sneak in some OPK's. I generally have 28-30 days cycles btu I don't know when I O, so I am guessing CD 14. That would be Tuesday the 1st, so I hope I don't miss a + OPK because we are busy this weekend!
I think that's all I got for today! Seems like A LOT of people got BFP this month!! If I get preggers this month I will be due May 26th. Here's to hoping!
