Hi Everyone..my name is Shawna and i finally convinced my husband it was time to give our girls a baby brother (or a baby sister!). This is our first month TTC and today should actually be the first day of my period...I am praying that it doesnt come on but because it was been flucuating between 28 days and about 33 days the past few months (recently came off the pill) I am trying not to get my hopes up. I think that if a pregnany test this month is negative, i will get an ovulation kit..Is there a particular brand that is better than the others?
Good luck to us all!
Shawna

hi shawna! welcome to the boards! hope your stay is short and sweet!
i usually use the answer brand because you get 20 tests for the price of 7 in other packages. this time i'm using target's brand. don't know if they are any better. there's a great website called early-pregnancy-tests.com which usually has great prices, too...

Thanks Hopeful!
I guess we are off to cycle #2. My AF started on Saturday and I was beyond disappointed. For the past couple of months my cycle has been 33 days so hopefully it will remain consistent. I tested several times early this cycle cuz I thought I had symptoms but I think it was all in my head! We never actually tried before with our girls so this trying and waiting thing is something I have to get used to!
Baby dust to all....

Thx Naomi! I would love a baby boy but more than anything I want a healthy baby. What about you?
I brought an ovulation kit over the weekend but had a small "mishap" on Sunday. When peeing in the cup, I dropped it in the toilet and my toilet sucked it in. I had to dig in the bowl with a rubber glove to get it out. So disgusting lol...
An online calendar said this is my fertile week, the kit gave me a very faint second line yesterday. I guess we will see...

Hi Shawna! We're just beginning the TTC journey ourselves. I have 2 boys, DH had a girl and a boy. So now we're working on an "ours". Hoping for a little girl, with so many boys in the family. LOL! But like you, I'd be happy with a healthy baby, regardless. I'm still waiting for CD1 (AF is mega late! I always have a 28 day cycle), but I'm going to start charting now. Tho I did plan my first son, my 2nd was a surprise. This will be my first time doing the whole TTC thing though. Here's wishing us all LOTS of BABY & STICKY DUST!!

So today is cycle day 29...Last month my cycle was 31 days and for the two months prior, it was 33 days.. Well I tested yesterday with a Clear Blue Easy Digital I had left at home and it gave me a pregnant..I was ecstatic. Tested this morning with a left over Answer brand and I got a negative. So Im thinking this seriously sucks...go out and get a First Response..also negative. Of course I start looking online and see how a lot of people didnt like the CBE, but Ive used it the last time I was pregnant (she's 5) and it was extremely accurate.
Any advice? Dont know if I am, or not. I was feeling like I am, but thinking I may have been psyching myself up. Dont wanna call the doc until Ive actually missed a period. Help?!?

Hi Shawna! I replied to your post on AIP, but saw your journal too. I would test with a different test at the same time of day that you did your CBE. I don't know how you could have gotten a false BFP on a digi. Thought those things were as close to fool proof as you can get. Anyway, with all the changes in FRERs and Answers now too, I'd get another digi and see what you get. Or even go for a couple of cheapies first. I'm so hoping this is you BFP!! Please let us know what happens!!!

One of my best girlfriends received a false BFP on a digital test - not once but, twice! She has also had ectopics; therefore, she has her HCG drawn immediately after testing positive and both times her Betas came back at less than 1. I've never used a Digi since.
I hope you get your BFP very soon hun! Loads of Baby Dust your way!

Thank you ladies for all the support. I got AF on day 32...so Clear Blue Easy Digitial clearly gave me a false positive. I was disappointed, but hey its not the end of the world, right? So off to another month..thinking I may want to try charts or temps or something. Hoping you ladies can give me some advice because I have never done this before! Thx..

I just started charting and temping with this last cycle. If you haven't done so already, the first step would be joining a site like FertilityFriend.com. It allows you to chart your temps, symptoms, CP and CM, etc. I love it! Get a Basal Body Thermometer (about $8 at Walmart) and start temping at the same time every day, as soon as you wake up. Take your temp before you sit up, talk, drink anything, go to the bathroom, etc. In fact, you should be hardly awake when you temp. I got OPKs, and started using them at about CD10. Between temping, charting my symptoms/changes and taking the OPKs, I'm figuring out my cycles.
Sorry that you got AF.

I got 25 opks and 10 hpts off of ebay for $14. There are always all kinds of deals on there. I love them! Not only do I know where I am in my cycle, but it gives me something to POAS on!!

So my husband turned 30 on April 9th and I planned to take him away for the weekend. We decided to go to the Poconos Resort in PA. I was starting to get worried because by March 31 AF had NOT come and I did not want it the weekend it was away! Of course pregnancy test was negative, and AF finally came Apri1 1 on day 35! Well no AF in May, combined with slight cramps, sore boobs and a few other things, prompted me to take a test and I got a BFP!
