The name of these types of siggies are pretty self explanatory, especially considering the title scene. This type of siggy is where you basically remake the whole entire picture into something else, generally into a whimsical (fanciful) scene. Here are some examples:

Some tips/hints:
  • use complete (or at least almost complete) full body shots so you can do cut outs since they are a main part of this type of siggy
  • give yourself a ground for things to sit on or create your shadows in ways that make it still seem like they are sitting on a flat surface.
  • if you are using more than one picture or person try to get the lighting and such as similar or possible or it just won't look right.
  • try to keep things in some sort of proportion.
Requirements for this week's challenge - (at least to all) 1 piece of ground, 2 cutouts, 7 elements, 1 mask - with 1 patterned paper clipped into, 1 large piece of text (name), 1 quote or saying, 2 fonts.

I know it may seem like a lot, but really its not too bad when you put it all together.

masks are these things you can use to clip things like paper or pictures into. Except for the first 2, all of the backgrounds on those siggies are created with masks with a paper clipped into them. Here are some examples of free masks:
Wet Paint Clipping Mask - Overlay by geekchicscraps - DigiScrapDepot.com
Photomask - Sylvester - Overlay by bittnergraphics - DigiScrapDepot.com
photomasks - Overlay by lallajohanna - DigiScrapDepot.com
Masks fro you (vol.III) - Overlay by benthai - DigiScrapDepot.com
Honestly though, I would ask in the Lounge for some good freebies. I stink at searching for them since I don't do the whole freebie bit.

As for how to clip...
you place and size your mask where you want it on the siggy, then place the paper you want to use in the layer over it. then press (for PSE) CTRL+G or (for CS) right click paper layer and select create clipping mask and the paper will go into the mask.

For the scene part of it.. Do you just download a kit with the objects you want then use to objects and the paper to create the scene? Ahh.. I'm better at the 'scrapbook' looking once

me too!
but yeah thats exactly what you do. here are some free kits that have stuff like that in them:
Christmas Story - Theme Kit by Dani3 - DigiScrapDepot.com
URBAN CITY - Theme Kit by Lumik - DigiScrapDepot.com
Christmas greeting - Theme Kit by Kaccii - DigiScrapDepot.com
Happy new year - Theme Kit by TheFrenchFrog - DigiScrapDepot.com
Forest Sleigh Rides Collaboration : Digiscrapbooking.ch Shop, your Digital Scrapbooking Store
Santa is coming : Digiscrapbooking.ch Shop, your Digital Scrapbooking Store

But as I've said before I don't do the free thing so there might be others who know of better freebies.

Ok, now you go over to the Siggy Makers Lounge and post your siggy there and ask for CC (constructive critism) and try to improve your siggy based on advanced makers tips.

Great job Jenn!!!!!
