Image>image>mode>indexed>enable dithering of transparency>convert
then
Filters>animation>optimise (difference)
your siggy will appear in a new window, save that as normal.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, all depends on what's in your siggy and how many layers you have, but there will always be an element of graininess.
