You ladies intimidate me because you are so much better than me with your cameras but I am trying to learn everything that I can so could you please give me some CC on these photos?
Also, HOW IN THE WORLD do you get such great pics of crawling babies?! I took SO MANY pics and am only semi-happy with these 3 because Jackson is soo crazy now! It's hard to get good shots of him when he's crawling all over the place and flipping over! Advice would be greatly appreciated!

Gosh, he's so cute! As for cc, I think they all look slightly under-exposed, but you could do a quick curves adjustment in Photoshop to fix that. Otherwise, the only other thing I can think of on #2, I would have preferred seeing you more on his level when taking this pic. Don't be afraid to get your knees dirty.

They are great- you have no reason to feel intimidated! Seriously! My only CC is that they are a bit underexposed, but that is an easy fix in Photoshop.

And yes, it's very hard to photograph kiddos that age, especially your own! I cannot get a good photo of my son unless he is distracted and not focused on the fact that I'm taking his photo. I have tried taking him to the park to get photos, but nope, didn't get any! lol.

ditto they are a bit underexposed, I use levels to up my exposure in photoshop. and I agree, more on his eye level. Rachel was the first to give me that CC when I first started posting here Dont be intimidated, we ALL started somewhere and its how we learn and grow and get better.

he is soooooo cute!!!!

and crawling babies is definitely hard. Good light and a high shutter speed!

Thanks ladies! What should I do next time to fix the underexposure problem? Raise the ISO? I shot them in aperture priority mode and I was shooting fully open but I had the ISO set at 400 so should I have bumped it up?

Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out all of the aperture, shutter speed, ISO relation!

Thanks for your help!

If you were in aperture priority, the camera chose the exposure. In aperture priority mode, raising the ISO would just mean that the camera would increase the shutter speed and you'd end up with the same exposure. Instead, you would need to either shoot in manual and deliberately 'overexpose', setting the ss so that the meter's needle was slightly off centre (to the right if you have a Canon, to the left if it's a Nikon) or shoot in aperture priority with +1 stop or so exposure compensation.

#2 is my favourite - love his expression and his hair! Watch out for how you are framing your subjects - as a general rule, try to avoid chopping limbs at the joints. In both #1 and #2 Jackson's arms are chopped at the wrist.
