If you were in aperture priority, the camera chose the exposure. In aperture priority mode, raising the ISO would just mean that the camera would increase the shutter speed and you'd end up with the same exposure. Instead, you would need to either shoot in manual and deliberately 'overexpose', setting the ss so that the meter's needle was slightly off centre (to the right if you have a Canon, to the left if it's a Nikon) or shoot in aperture priority with +1 stop or so exposure compensation.
#2 is my favourite - love his expression and his hair! Watch out for how you are framing your subjects - as a general rule, try to avoid chopping limbs at the joints. In both #1 and #2 Jackson's arms are chopped at the wrist.
