I would read everything you can, lol!! just keep taking pictures and trying out the different settings, dont be afraid of your camera.. A good book is understanding exposure by Bryan Peterson, and another is, The better photo guide to digital photography.. and of course I alsways have my digital photography for dummies, lol!! Congrats on your new purchase, look forward to seeing your pictures, and ask ask ask anything, someone in here is always able to help!!

Hi and welcome!! Nicky summed it up very well!! The main thing - is don't be afraid of the camera or the settings - and practice practice practice!! If you have ANY questions, please don't be afraid to ask them - we're all very willing to help and lots of us are still learning too!! :-) Congrats on your camera, too!!

1st of all have fun, if it's not fun then it will show in your photo's.

once you get to know your camera then fool around with settings.

Also you may want to consider reading 'understanding exposure' and the blog 'stop shooting auto'.
