Nikon just released the new D7000, and I'm leaning towards it over the 300. Just wondering if anyone has any hands on experience with either of these bodies... what are your thoughts? Right now I'm just using a D80, so either would be a step up!

Ive done sooo much research on these Nikon cameras...

I'm wondering if I should get the d300s, or just spend a little more on the mac daddy, d700.

If you're debating between these two, I say go for the D300s. The d7000 is a great camera from what I hear, but it's more like a step up from the d90, not the d300s. There's really no comparing. Have you considered the d700?

I would love the D700... just not sure about the extra $1000! I know it would be worth it in the long run, but for right now it seems so far out of my budget.

I was reading reviews and comparisons just now on Ken Rockwell, and he was saying that on most parts the D7000 outperforms the D300s. I guess I'll just have to keep reading!

I would go with the d300s for sure...the only reason I dont say the d700 is because its full frame which makes the lenses more expensive *I think*, and I think thats a big factor in why the price is so much higher. I havent done much research on the DX vs FX lenses but I know that you cant take full advantage of a full frame camera without a full frame lens.

The d7000 just isnt that much of an improvement from what you have, IMO.

I have been using DH's D300 and its a great camera. From what I have heard the D7000 is going to replace the D90 so it would be an upgrade for the D80 but the 300 is "higher" up.

I thought about getting the D7000 also but instead, DH is going to upgrade to the D3s or D3x (can't remember which) and I am going to get his.

Good luck choosing!
