I cropped out the surrounding window, as tight as I wanted to. I made a new layer, and then cranked the white levels so they were blown, leaving no detail to the curtain/window. I took the eraser tool and erased your body/hair back in, so that it was back to normal.
2. (this is using photoshop, CS3)
I cropped a horizontal of your image. (this included the wall, but we'll get to that). I made a new layer, and then cranked the white levels so they were blown, leaving no detail to the curtain/window. I then took the rectangle marquee tool and made a rectangle in the window behind your body where it was all white. HIt Control T and it transforms it with guides. Pull on the guide button closest to the edge of frame and drag the white across until it reaches the edge. Then hit the checkmark (which should be in the top right?) Do the same for the other side. Now you will have a larger area of white around you. Then I went to Levels and adjusted the blacks so that you turned into a silhoutte.
I hope that wasn't too horribly confusing! LOL
I think you are doing a great job with your maternity photos! I'm not sure if there is another photog. in your area that you can swap sessions with... just playing... she does your mat photos and you do some headshots, or pics of her kids?
