I do it a lot. Before I totally swap a head I will see if I can just face swap first. If someones eyes are closed or they are making a weird face, I find it much easier to just face swap, then you don't have to deal with the background at all.
That's really the only advice I have, each circumstance is so different, it's hard to give solid advice that applies to everything.
I am so not good at head swapping! I wish I could offer good advice, look in the stickies at tutorials, there is a head swapping one in there!! Be sure to share with us the before and after, I love looking at head swaps!!
I head swap all the time, but I do find that you have to have the angles in the photo fairly close to what you're trying to swap, otherwise clothing won't line up when you get to the neck. Sometimes I start at the neckline and work my way up, so that I know the clothes are right. If you search on here I think I have a head swap tutorial.
