So last night I was messing around trying to do some natural light photos. Definitely tougher than I thought. I ended up with a ton of out of focus shots! The few here are not entirely sharp, but I editted them and converted to b&w. I messed around using the gradient conversion tool. What do you guys think?

Very nice use of the natural light! Catchlights look great. I usually convert with the gradient map or the channel mixer as well.

The first one is great, great expression, nice eyes, lovely shot.

The second one, I would try to crop differently. If you want to take off the ear, I would take off part of the top of the head as well.

The third one I love! That is my absolute favorite crop (I try to include one crop like that for each session), the eye closest to you is in perfect focus and a great smile! Great job!

Thanks guys! My son makes the best model; He's never too busy, never cancels appts; doesn't question my shots and always is willing to play. Of course now that he's a bit more mobile it is harder to keep him in shooting range! He likes to have extreme close-ups done a lot!

I use PSE so I don't think I have access to a channel mixer. But I'm liking this gradient tool so far.
I did a couple of these with a warming filter applied...they are the two (1st and 3rd) that have a slight orange-ish cast. Im still can't decide if I like it better with or without the filter.

Mommyof3, thanks for the crop suggestion I'll have to try it and see how it looks.

WOW! I'm no pro, but I love them all! You did an awesome job IMO!

Funny you said that...I was thinking the same thing. I kept going back and forth trying to decide...my conclusion: I like them both.
