So I've been lurking here for a little over a year, but I haven't introduced myself because I didn't know anything about anything lol. Anyway, I bought a Nikon D3000 while I was pregnant last year, and I've been practicing with it now for about 8 or 9 months. My pictures have been getting better as I figure out all the settings and how to work with lighting, also added a 50mm f/1.8 lens to my bag 'o tricks. I do need some sort of speedlight for inside shots. I recently got Photoshop and have been teaching myself the basics of editing, so I figured I might as well post a photo for you guys to critique to make myself a full-fledged photography board member
Thanks, guys! Yeah, I wish the focus was on her eyes, too. Unfortunately I'm stuck with manual focus on the 50mm and my eyesight is garbage lol. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I just miss, but when I'm outside I can't tell on the review It makes me want to blow a grand on a D90 just so I'll have a camera with a focus motor lol. Unfortunately, this was the only one that was mostly in focus where she wasn't chowing down on her fist, so I just tried to trick the eye a little with editing. Anyway, I'll keep posting pics for CC if you guys don't mind!
I got a refurb D90 from cameta camera for $600. It comes with a year warranty from them. You could also consider buying the 35mm 1.8. it will auto focus on a d3000. I used to have a d5000 until I went with a d90.
