Hello everyone. Dava invited me to check out the board here.
My name is Erin and I'm 37. I dabble in photography, just picked up a Canon Rebel XT when I found out I was pregnant, because I knew I was going to be taking a lot more pictures once she came. I find that my best shots are the more candid ones, because you get the most out of them. I wish I had the time to really practice the craft, because this would be a great side job. I did the video of a friends wedding, had just brought along my little digital camera (one of the early ones - so not a lot of disc space!) and just took pictures here and there. Come to find out my pictures were much better than the ones the "professional" took.
I'm still learning my camera so if anyone has a similar/same camera and has tips.. I'd appreciate it.
Right now my favorite subjects are my family, especially my daughter - she's a natural in front of the camera

I don't have that type of camera but I also find candids are the best to take. I am doing the candids at my SIL's wedding in Sept. and I cannot wait! I am more excited about doing the pictures for that wedding (also because she is family) than being the official photographer for a friend's outdoor wedding next month! But my MIL just recently asked me to take the candids because she knows we both have the same camera and I can get some great shots in of all the guests and other things while the official photographer is busy taking the pictures of my SIL & her new hubby.
Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous! Just keep taking pictures of her and work your way up to others. Another good way to get practice is landscape photos.
Thank you KimberlyD0 for my absolutely beautiful siggy!
Just joined in myself (that darn Dava is good at this isn't she) but wanted to say welcome. I have the 20D, which is pretty close to the XT, so hopefully we can all learn from eachother. Can't wait to get to knw you.
Thanks for the welcome.. gets hard for me to try and take care of her and do pictures.. most of my family lives away from us, so I'm constantly taking pics to show her off to the family.. so I post pictures (rotating them) on my website.. feel free to check it out..
