I took this picture a long time ago and I've always loved it. Anyway, I finally got Photo shop today. I'm pretty computer savvy and this is going to take me a while to figure out.

So I have wanted to turn the ribbons in this picture blue and I did it usint the color replacement tool. I want to enlarge this. What else should I do? I thought about adding text in a flowing, possibly cursive font. Do the ribbons look okay, or should I try one of the methods some of you guys mentioned in that other thread? Critique away!

(some advice on resizing with PS also, OBVIOUSLY, LOL)

That is cute! I think the ribbons look great! I would probably give the shot a bit of a tighter crop. But that's just my opinion. Im so bad about putting words to a pic...but I think this one kinda doesn't need much. Its got great expression just in the shot.
I use PSE not PS, but my resize options are under image-resize-image size. For web posts I generally aim for about 300-400 pixels for width in landscape shots or height in verticals.

Hey girl, since we didn't get a chance to talk much this afternoon, wanted to be sure and tell you, {which don't think I'm an idiot for saying this, just want to make sure you know } make SURE you always make a copy of any pic before you start editing it in anyway. You always want to be able to have the original to revert back to if need be.

Anywho...resizing, for the web, I usually don't resize in PS, I usually just do it in Photobucket after I've uploaded them...it takes longer to upload, but I always multi-task, so no biggie. Since you already have it uploaded, you can downsize it now really easy in Photobucket...it's pretty big so I would do it to 50%.

About the pic...I think your selective coloring looks good, I wouldn't add any text to it, I think it speaks for itself, especially if you're wanting to go BIG with this one.
What kind of conversion did you do to get to b&w? I would sharpen it a bit and maybe clone the ribbon a bit where it's blown. JMO of course!

I LOVE this pic too, btw, but I think I've told you that, ...are you having fun playing with PS?

I don't have much to say, except I agree with the tighter crop. Adorable shot though, and great job on the selective color.

I use a program called Irfanview to resize my photos. It's a great tool.

to resize in photoshop you go to: image -> image size. from there you can change it (has cm,inches, pixels etc)
