Hi all,
I make my own cards each year. Usually My Mother in law will take the picture and we will order 40 pics and then we get card paper and rubber cement them and write our message on the inside.

I decided to do my own this year. So I took the picture and messed with it in Photoshop and PSP.

I made the picture look like old style photo and the rest is obvious.

My husband thinks its nice but maybe too white washed. I kinda like the white washed look. I feel like it may be a little rough around the edges of the layers. I used the blur tool to clean up the lines. I dont know any other way to do it.

Any tips from the pros here?

I dont mind constructive critism at all so please feel free to speak openly.

Thanks

i like it, its a very cute idea. i also am doing my own this year and i'm so excited i can't wait! it looks good but i do think your younger daughter's face is a little washed out. otherwise i don't think the rest is bad. just the one side of her face, and maybe that can't be helped, its not horrible.

That is such a cute idea! I think it looks great as it is but it's a little busy. I think it's the lacy border. I would try something with little bit more of a clean line.. but that's just me!

Thanks for the feedback.
I think I agree about the boarder.

I like it. it's a cute photo but it's a little white washed, I would tone it down just a bit. I also agree that I don't like the border. Other than that it's great!

I am having our own cards made this year, I made them 2 years ago by using a picture of a baby's feet in a manger, but this year, I am going to take a photo of DH and I.. here's my inspiration pic:

we're both going to wear toboggans and scarves =)

I'm doing my own this year too, I have no idea what I'll do yet. But I still have a whole month.

When do you all send cards out?

I like the concept and idea. I would try a different pic to put in though, and maybe a less busy border like the other girls said.
I'm doing our cards too eventually.

After you play with the border and whatnot, can you post it again? I think that the lacy border is a little too dominant as well and would love to see what a different version looks like.

I will definantly repost the picture. I actually have 4 other pics that I took that day so I am gonna play with it and see what you all think!
Thanks to everyone and the advice you all gave. Thanks for being honest and not sugar coating it

Well, I'm a little late with my response to this post and the other gals already mentioned the things that I would have. Just a bit simpler and I agree that your youngest's face is too washed out. I like the sepia tone though.
