Sometimes I get really frustrated because it's really hard to make it in such a competitive industry. Dh and I work really hard, and I try not to take things personally but it's hard when you put yourself out there and don't get the job. DH went out of his way to meet with a potential wedding client over the weekend, and she just emailed us and said she hired someone else. It's happened to us before so it's no biggie, but we are experiencing our off season so we need every job we can get right now...sigh

Would you consider doing portraits during your wedding off season? That way you would only have maybe January and Feb as off season for both.

We already do portraits, but we don't get as many portrait jobs as we do weddings. Even though our prices aren't that expensive, it's hard when you have places like JCPenney or Sears who charge $3.99 a sheet! LOL! Anyway, I know we'll be fine once wedding season kicks back up, but it's always hard during this time of year. We have gotten some portrait jobs, but we haven't had a wedding since October.

What are your prices compared to your competition? The reason I ask is that viewing your website your work is excellent and it's possible that you are priced to low. I know, odd to say....but your competition shouldn't be JC Penny with your caliber of work, you probably want to be priced arund the midpoint of other pro photographers in your area. I had this happen the first few years of business we were priced on the lower end of the scale and we got business, but not a lot. My DH used to work in videography and suggested that we raise our prices. Next season we booked twice the amount. I'm sure things will pick back up for you soon!
