I've heard nothing but good, about Canons on this board. I am also getting a new camera for X-mas, a Canon PowerShot A630.

I have that camera and its a great camera but to be honest I would pay a bit more to get a newer one.

It is good though I still use it for short videos or times I dont want to bring out my DSLR

I definitely agree that Canon is a wise choice, although I don't know much about that particular one. If you go to http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/ though and check out what they have to say, it's a great site for reviews.

I have to say if you are not wanting to spend as much as a SLR cost I got a great camera back in October I am nothing but pleased with it! It isnt Canon but I have a girl friend with a rebel XTI and she is getting one of these for her mom since seeing a few of my pics.

It is a Kodak Easy share 6MP z650 just came out in June I think. I had a cheaper 2MP for my first digi cam and loved it but boy can I tell a difference!

Here are a few pics of my kids and whatever else I find on photobucket to share...

Fall colors

Lookout mountain

Alright anyways....thats more then enough to show you that it takes pretty good pics!
Also it has lots of setting to let you customize how you use it
