I got PSE 5.0 for Christmas and I am too scared to use it...it's just sitting on the floor looking at me!

I'm worried it will be too overwhelming...for those that use it, is it easy to use or will I struggle?

You're too funny girl...I don't have that, but Photoshop is VERY overwhelming, BUT the best thing to do is load and just start playing, I bet once you do, you won't want to quit...it's fun to just see all the stuff you can do. Make sure when you're playing with a pic, that you are working on a copy of it and not the original...then just start seeing what you can do with it. It'll be fun...go, play, now!

^Ditto! Just dive right in and start playing with it, but ALWAYS copy your pic so you don't accidently save over your original.

You can do it....we're all 'ing for you.
I upgraded to PSE 5.0 so I already had some experience with elements....but elements is really designed to be a bit more user friendly top to bottom. Go open that box and have some fun. And as long as you're working on a copy you should be great!
I usually just start with a new duplicate layer from the background and make my changes etc on that. Then if I need to go back to it while working I can undo easier. Oh and when you start the program find your "undo" toolbox and leave that open. (should be able to find it under windows).

I highly recommend the PSE book out there --I just went to look on my shelf and it is not there--but if you look on Amazon under photoshop elements it will probably pop up. It is priceless and has a TON of step by step instructions for a pluthera of things.

search on google for tutorials there are hundreds out there. The best way to do anything, and the only way I learned to use photoshop(although I am still learning new things all the time) is to just jump into it and play around, if you don't like something, backup. Remember to always make new layers when you do something so that you can easily remove something if you don't like the way it looks. I look up tutorials all of the time and they are soooo much help! I wish you luck on your journey to learning how to use the program and if you ever need anything, feel free to ask it and I am most certain one of us can answer it =)

There are some good tutorials on the siggy board.

I was SO lost when I got CS2, and now I can do ok. I make siggies and blinkies with it (well, blinkies with image ready).

But the tutorials on the siggy board helped me a lot. Especially Teresa's my first siggy tutorial, it helped me learn where things are.

Thanks girls...but no I haven't even tried yet. I figure I'll get to it eventually but it's just not on my to do list right now.

I will make sure to find some tutorials when I do decide to jump in!
