I just had a hysteroscopy last week. Everything looked fine. I asked the nurses as I was leaving if I should be preventing pregnancy this month. They told me to wait until my next doctor's appointment in 2 weeks. But my doctor didn't ask me to schedule an appointment and the hysteroscopy felt like no big deal-- no cramping, no recovery time, just a little bleeding-- so I'm wondering if there is any danger in trying to conceive. Anyone get clearer instructions from their doctor?

I had a laparoscopy at the same time as my hysteroscopy so it was a little different for me but I was told not to resume TTC for at least 6 weeks. Here is a link that may help you..

I think it's really important to allow yourself to heal first because the uterus is very open to infection this soon after a procedure and there are a huge number of things that normally wouldn't cause a problem but while the uterus is healing they may.

I think after a surgical procedure, I'd call the doc to ask, for the very reasons Rhonda gave. They should be able to answer that question over the phone. You certainly don't want any additional challenges to complicate your next try.

I figure the other ladies gave great answers already so I can't add much. I just wanted to say that I KNOW it is bummer at times to have to hold off on TTC due to procedures. BUT - in a better light - this will make sure you have time to get your results in completely & have maybe more information at hand when you do resume TTC. I HIGHLY recommend (if you can) scheduling to resume TTC the cycle you do a HSG because it seems to aid in your fertility - JMO. Best wishes!
