"We came into this battle knowing nothing. All we knew was something was attacking our little Warrior and we had to fight it, get rid of it. The first battle began with a simple prayer, a prayer where I cried and begged don't let me lose him, guide these doctors to find what is wrong. That battle was won. We KNOW what is wrong, we KNOW how to treat it, we are prepared to fight. So now we take up a new battle. We are armed with the knowledge that God is guiding the hands and minds of Joey's care team and we are armed with the knowledge of God's power to work miracles and to work through others. Over the weekend the prayer was Let the prelims be the finals and let treatment be started soon. Our prayer was answered. So now we enter the next stage of this war, a battle to heal. We pray for Joey's strength, protection, and healing. We pray that he is in the 80% that this treatment works for, that we do not have to resort to Salvage treatment. We pray that Vinblastine works, that prednisone works. We pray that he does not get any infections that would hinder his treatment or his health. This Battle will be won, I believe with every fiber of my being that God is guiding Joey's care team through every step.
At first they couldn't get a blood return on his IV line and we were looking at not being able to start treatment tonight, but the Doctor ordered a new line. And boy Joey is a trooper. He fought, but with the aid of a binkie and some "TootSweet" he was calmed. We got the line, first try, and got the much needed blood return and his first round of Chemo has begun.
Please pray for Joeys continued upbeat spirit through this battle, for God's guiding hand in this battle, and for Joey to be one of the 80%. Pray for his complete healing, his continued strength, and protection from all the infections and illnesses that may come his way. Pray for our family to continue to remain strong in everything we do, and for the foresight to know when Joey needs something.
I have been reading and reading and reading in my Bible. I have been reading the book of Matthew where Jesus healed so many, the multitudes. This has given me strength and courage that is so needed. it has kept me from falling to peices every time I think about this. I am trusting God to send his angels to watch over my son during this time and to protect him.
We entered this battle tonight, the battle where we are treating this, with me singing to Joey. I sang Amazing Grace to him as we got the line in, as we pushed the meds in, as he fell asleep afterwards. For it is by God's Amazing Grace that he will be healed."
