I've just had my second chemical pregnancy. My husband and I have TTC twice (a year apart), gotten pregnant twice, but both have been chemical pregnancies. I am scheduled to see my doctor for the first time about this on Tuesday, but just wanted to get a feel for what to expect. Have any of you had multiple chemical pregnancies? What type of testing/treatment have you had? And I'd love to hear that somebody has gone on to have a successful pregnancy!

While I haven't gone on to have a successful pregnancy YET, all of my losses were considered chemical pregnancies (my doc considers anything before 6 weeks a chemical, and all of mine were 5w1d or less. I've had 5 losses in three years. We've figured out that it was because of low progesterone levels, which were caused by out of whack estrogen levels during the first part of my cycle. Clomid was supposed to help me, but the side effects were just too brutal and I gave up.

Right after Christmas we decided to switch to NT/NP while I focus on losing weight, and guess what.....my cycles are back to normal length, which means that my hormones are regulating with weight loss and regular exercise. While we aren't actively trying, I really hope I'll be reporting a pregnancy soon! I hope you get some answers soon hun.

BTW....There is someone who posts on TTC Grads that had several chemicals and is now very much pregnant. You might ask about it there too.

Like Mountain Mama I've had several, but no successful pregnancies. But I do have a reason for a few of mine (birth control use)...which does work out to be pretty much the same cause as Steph's, chemical imbalance (mine was just self induced). But mine were all +HPT before AF due, AF show up a day late... so I never made it beyond 4w1d.

Good luck with the doctor!

I have had several Chemicals and with the last 4 my progesterone bottomed out. I was on progesterone with my sons my progesterone with them was 12 and 14. This one my progesterone is 30 which is normal and I don't need extra progesterone.

My first MC was a chemical I had a positive HPT on CD 9, then AF was 2 days late. My primary referred me onto the RE due to we had tried a year before that. My DH was in Iraq at the time so my RE didn't really do that much. I have a feeling there will be a lot more testing now after this MC. As I've had a feeling this whole time that it's got to do with my progesterone.

I've had two chemicals and one late first trimester loss. I have not been to the doctor and don't know the actual causes for them. However, I do have my suspicions...

Best of luck at the doctor. I hope they are able to find an easy-to-fix cause for your losses.

I've mostly had late trimester losses. I've had one chemical as well but I'm not really sure why. The military will not let you see a specialist until you have had 3 miscarriages so this month I am finally seeing a specialist. I hope you find out the cause and it can be easily fixed!

I've had 3 chemicals in the last 5 months. I got pregnant very easily with my first 3 pregnancies, unfortunately my 3rd ended with my son being born at 20 weeks due to a placental abruption.

We've been ttc since then and have had the 3 chemicals. After my 2nd I was diagnosed with 2 blood clotting disorders and was told to start Lovenox after I got a BFP. The problem is that I'm not getting far enough in a pregnancy to start the meds. My chemicals have all ended around 4w3d.

Now I am starting Lovenox and progesterone supplements from 3dpo to 14dpo or a + HPT. Hopefully that will help!

Good luck to you, I hope your doc can give you some answers.

One appointment and seven vials of blood later... here I sit waiting for results...

I saw my doctor this morning and had a great visit. She agrees that there doesn't seem to be any trouble with egg and sperm hooking up, but that the trouble does lie with getting it to stick. She told me that many doctors won't start testing for problems until three miscarriages, but she thought that was "just silly" (which made me feel so much better!), especially since I'm 2 for 2 in getting pregnant. So she ordered blood work to test for rubella (because of my husband's travels), thyroid disease and a blood-clotting disorder. She gave me the ok to go ahead and start taking the baby aspirin everyday. She expects the results to be in tomorrow or Thursday. Isn't it strange how you hope to have something wrong with you?

And so round one begins...

Hi there! I had 2 early m/c's before getting my preggo with my DD, who is now a healthy rambunctious 22 month old!!! So yes, healthy pregnancies DO come after m/c's! We never found out the cause of the first 2 m/c's and since we went on to have a health pregnancy with my DD, we didn't think to do any further testing. But we just lost a baby this weekend to down syndrome w/a cystic hygroma at 13w4d, so my doc is ordering chromosomal/genetic testing for both DH and myself to see if there is something fishy going on. Hope yours is just bad luck and you go to to have a healthy and rambunctious one of your own!!!

I am very sorry for your losses. But I am so glad that you have a wonderful doctor that is going to try and help you find the underlying issue! What a blessing she must be.

I have also had early losses and my doctor determined that they were due to my low progesterone...I have a shortend lutal phase as well....probably the cause of the low progst.

Now I have 2 healthy children (4yo & 7m) but did take progesterone with them for the 1st 13 weeks of my pregnancies.

Please come back and let us know how your results came out.

I am new to this board but I was glad to see this posting. I just found out that I had my second chemical pregnancy and I am devastated. I read some stuff about it online, but nothing definitive. Does anyone have any other answers they have located or reasons why chemical pg occur?

First of all, I am sorry about your losses. Secondly, I too had 2 chem. pregs. before this one. In fact, all occurred 3 cycles in a row. With the okay from my dr, I went on low dose baby aspiring. I don't know if it helped or not, but I am now almost 15 weeks pregnant. I hope me posting this gives you hope. HUGS.

Sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy.. I have had 3 m/c in 1 year I got pregnant the first 2 times on clomid... 3rd time i went to a specialist they did all sorts of blood work and follicle measuring... I am perfectly fine and hubby is as well... I did clomid hcg and iui hubby had 22 million sperms 95% mobility washed.. I got pregnant and my numbers dropped so about to m/c.. Progesterone was to low.. Its fine until I get pregnant so hopefull NEXT time they will give me it a head of time and that was the problem.... Lots of luck to you... And keep us updated on what the dr says

Just updating from my earlier post on this thread. Like I said, I had 3 chemical pregnancies in a row within 5 months. I was tested after my 2nd CP and told I have a blood clotting disorder called APS. I was told to start Lovenox after a heartbeat was established but I wasn't getting that far. After my 3rd CP, my OB recommended trying the Lovenox from right after ovulation. We decided to do progesterone too, just in case. I started them both at 3dpo the next cycle and today I'm 8w2d pregnant and we saw a heartbeat last week!

Sometimes the testing will find something that can be an easy fix.
