I have been in a couple...
My very first was a month after I turned 16-it was in Dec and the roads were icy-I had a car full of people(at the time IL had a law where only one passenger for the first so many months of getting your DL)----but I took a corner at about 80mph,I don't remember this part I blacked out, I hit a tree and a pole-no one was hurt though, but the car was totaled.

A few months after that I got in another one on my way home from work-I was exhausted-I fell asleep sitting at a red light and went thru it I hit someone-there was no damage to his car just needed an alignment

After these two I stopped driving. I will argue anyone any day @ 16 you shouldn't be allowed to drive alone, you just don't have it all there.

When I finally started driving again @ almost 18-I got into another accident like a year later. I was in my step dads BRAND new car and I was taking the dogs to the park for a walk--well the rottie was looking out the window and looked like he was going to jump I turned for 2 seconds and BAM I rear ended the HITCH on a suburban---the poor girl driving was on her permit

My driving has improved! A LOT!!! So don't worry if you ever come thru IL I will not hit you!

I had a guy t-bone and total my car. Thankfully no body was hurt. He was making a left turn and somebody waved him on without checking their blind spot.

I have been in more than a few I am afraid to say. The worst was on the freeway in a snow storm when my car slid out of control on some black ice and I hit a retaining wall head on that was on an overpass. My car was totaled and I had to wait in the dark in a snowstorm for a tow truck and a cop.
The other one was when I hit that neighbor boy with my car...now that was really horrible. Other than that most of my accidents have been things I have been able to walk away from. Although my cars have not walked away. I guess the fact that I have been ok with them is a blessing....

My first accident was when we were driving to the lake the celebrate my 13th birthday. A 16 year old driver was driving into the sun and missed her stop sign. Our big truck pulling a boat barreled into her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Me, I was knocked straight into the next week. I was taken to a hospital with multiple tramas. I had a concussion, I broke my nose, had stiches down my forhead, I broke my femur bone, fractured my pelvis and I think I had a collapsed lung.

Needless to say i did not get my drivers licence until i was 17 and then only because my mom picked me up from school and took me there without knowing.

My second memorable accident, i had rented a car to drive from Phoenix, AZ to Los Angeles. On the way home I was in riverside and some one changing a flat tire in the fast lane. The car infront of me hit it breaks and I hit mine. We ended up in a four car pile up. The rental car was totalled front and back. However the air bags didn't deploy. Which was probably a good thing as I had my then 18 month old daughter in the front seat. My 5 year old son was sleeping in the back. There were no injuries.
