On my papers it says 2.2x6.2x4.8cm, empty, compatible with a miscarriage (well it says "stopped pregnancy" if I translate word for word from French to English)... What do those numbers mean?

I'm really not sure exactly what they mean, except that it sounds like it was too small for how far along you were supposed to be. Can you give us a little background?

what kind of background?
I mean, I went in for my 12wk ultrasound yesterday, there was a gestational sac with placenta (had a small tear) but no baby. I've had some very minimal spotting in the beginning but nothing to indicate a miscarriage. This is so strange! I mean, does it mean its a blighted ovum that literally never grew? But then why would my sac keep growing???

By the way, those are centimeters, not the usual milimeters you guys are used to... so i guess the measurements would be...

22x62x48mm

It is like measuring a 3 dimensional box. The x-y-and z coordinates. 22 mm length, 62 mm width, 48 mm height.

I am so sorry to hear this.

That was the background I was wondering.

The measurements seem normal to me for a blighted ovum. Usually the sac just keeps growing but no baby forms. I'm really sorry you're having to go through this.

A blighted ovum means that your sac will keep growing, as your body still thinks your pregnant, but there is no baby.
I'm sure the numbers are just information the doctors need for your chart.
It just shows how small your sac was.
They didn't tell you when it stopped growing? If you call them, they should.
I'm sorry for your loss!

Hugs sweetie, I am so sorry! I miscarried in May and was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. I wish I could tell you what the measurements were, but the sono machine automatically converted the measurements to weeks so I should have been 14 weeks and it said I measured 7w3d... I would call your dr and ask him how many weeks those measurements should have been???

Yikes...Honestly, I'm not sure it's possible, other than calling your doctor & asking him, which you have every right to.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for!

I agree with Amber. Unfortunately there's not a lot of information out there about gestational sac measurements, though I'm sure your doctor could tell you what you want to know.
