Well we're back home after a great week in Cuba at an all-inclusive resort in Cayo Santa Maria. We had a blast and it really helped us to focus on us and enjoy each other again. Here are a few pictures.

The View of the Beach from the Boardwalk (Just look at the colour of the water!)

DH & I at the Swim-Up Bar

DH Thinking (I have no idea what he was thinking!)

Me Being Sung to at Dinner (Excuse the tired look on my face...it's tough work relaxing all day!) By the end of the week my hair looked like Monica's (from Friends) when the gang went to Barbados!!!

I'm glad you had a good time! It looks gorgeous. Stupid U.S./Cuba politics...sigh.

This was the first trip I had ever taken where I wasn't asked if I was an American! I take a back pack with me and it has a Canadian flag on it and I would still get asked if I was American, but not in Cuba. People assumed you Candian until you spoke and then it became clear if you were British, Italian, etc.

Pictures don't do it justice. Of course the resorts are great but where the people of Cuba live is a different story. You don't always get to see the real side of Cuba. We were fortunate to drive through 3 towns and I got some amazing photos.

I really enjoy photography and brought 3 cameras with us. I prefer photos that show the people and their life and you can't see that at a resort. I managed to get about 40 photos of the culture and people. Everywhere I travel (I've been to 7 countries now) I take B&W photos and many of them end up getting enlarged and framed and hung in my home (my home has a world travel theme to it with items from our trips).

That sounds wonderful! I love photography as well but 'm not as good as most with a camera....I also enjoy seeing true culture when I travel...I hope to do more of that in my lifetime.

I couldn't resist. I know this has nothing to do with my photos from Cuba but talking about photography reminded me of some of my favourite photos I've taken when I was in Guatemala last August. I thought I would share a few. Sorry...photography is a huge passion of mine! (Sorry they're so large!)

This was taken in Antigua, Guatemala

A Rooftop View with the Volcanos in the Background

A Girl I Met in Market (I bought a few things from her in exchange for taking this photo and her mother is in the background)

A Cross Overlooking the Town of Antigua

WOW!! What amazing stories you've captured! You have a true gift for photography. I'm way impressed. If you ever wanted to change jobs, you would probably have no problem signing on with National Geographic or something similar. Absolutely beautiful!
