I went to several family showers after my first loss. I haven't been to any other than my own since the latest 4.

To this point, I have avoided them like the plague! I have one coming up next month..... for a family member who needs my support, so I will go. Teenage, single mom. How's that for a kick to the teeth. I know what she's going through and I know she needs me though, so I'll be there.

No. My best friend is pregnant though after 9 years of trying. And I am throwing her shower for her.

I have been to a couple as well, though, I also try to avoid them. I got stuck going to one yesterday with NO warning. It was more of 'Hey, come to the shower." It was the principal of a school that I'm trying to get a TA job at so I couldn't really tell her no.

Ouch! That would be so hard. I wouldn't want to feel obligated like that even if I wasn't trying to avoid them.

Yea, the staff can be standoff-ish so I'm trying to do whatever I can to get known better and what-not. I even stood around yesterday chatting with the secretary for a 1/2 hour after I got off hoping that it would help her remember me when they need a last minute sub.
