If you could "give back" in the sense of helping out women who are suffering losses, what would you like to do?

I'd like to start a Charity who provides comfort or remembrance items to women who have lost a child. I know there are a few out there, but I'd like to work with doctors, RE's and hospitals who have to deliver the news, so it's not the grieving family looking for the items, they're being offered right to them.

I dropped a bunch of small square blankets at the childrens hospital last year, they were intended as preemie blankets, but they told me they actually were giving them/using them for women who'd lost their baby after viability. They were wrapping the babies in hospital blankets, then wrapping that in my blanket, the mothers were then being given the blanket. I'd love to do this through the hospital back in Appleton if they'd agree.

Ashley....check out Forever Warm

I started a local chapter over a year ago. I make blankets of all sizes and donate to several area hospitals. These blankets are given to mothers who have a miscarriage or stillbirth. It really helps to know that other mommas are getting just a bit of comfort from these blankets. (Though I really wish there wasn't any need at all for them!)

Thanks Steph. And it looks like there isn't even a chapter in Wisconsin according to the site. I guess this is something I can totally work towards. My mind is already going. lol. a small blanket can be turned out every day!

I wish I could make something, but I really am not creative at all...

I know when I had Daniel, the hospital had memory boxes & gives the mommas the blanket & little bity outfits they dress them in as well as making molds of their hands and feet and a "certificate of birth" along with a little angel teddy bear. I thought that was the sweetest thing EVER!

I don't really know how they get all the stuff - I imagine donations...

I would love to do something, but wouldn't even know where to start...

I would love to do something for my local area but wouldn't know where to start. I hosted pregnancy loss for a bit to help others but recently stepped down.

I picked up 28oz of yarn to make blankets. It's not amazing quality yarn, so I'll probably donate them to be given to parents of passed babies rather than for preemies. But it cost me $10 and should give at least four families something to physically hold when they can no longer hold their baby.

When I start working next year I'll make preemie blankets for the hospital. I can turn out a quilt an hour once I have my machine, for a preemie.

I'm going to save up a stock until summer, then I'll approach a local hospital about them. If they don't want them you can expect me to bug you for an address to ship them to you Steph! Appleton has a lvl 3 nicu, so I'm assuming they have the need for things.

I'm sure that they will most likely have a real need for them. If not though, I will be glad to accept them. I am up to 3 hospitals now and working with a couple of others in the area to set something up.
