I'm going to the doctor today and it made me wonder, how often do you get sick? Are you the type to go to the doctor every time, or do you tend to wait it out?

I don't get sick often and when I do I don't just get a cold, I get sick. I have been sick for about 2 weeks now, but I am pretty sure it is allergies, not much they can really do so I am just waiting it out.

The last time I was sick I went and had it checked out(CVS minute clinic, so much better than the Dr!) and I had bronchotis(sp) I was better 2 days into my antibiotic.

Back home if I was sick more than 4 days I went in to be seen.

Here I suffered with that kidney pain for days before it got bad enough DH put his foot down and drove me to the ER. I'd have gone crazy with out those pain meds.

It depends on the kind of sick. Usually I wait things out. DH waits longer than me.

I tend to wait too. It's a habit that I formed when I spent years uninsured. I went today after a week of pain in my side to find out that I have an infection in my gut. So now I'm on heavy antibiotics for a week.

I am sorry. That really sucks. I hope it gets better soon. I know I am getting an ear infection, but I don't really have a normal doctor right now. I guess I should find one quickly.

Since I have been a SAHM I really rarely get sick. When I worked, though, I got sick ALL.THE.TIME. I have an autoimmune disorder, and I take corticosteroids, so I get sick easier than most people. I used to have such a hard time keeping jobs b/c I got sick so much, so I would call in a lot.

Anyway, I usually don't go to the doctor unless I think it is something like Strep, or something that really NEEDS medical care or medication. Otherwise I just tough it out and suffer through.
