They're stopping all support tonight and letting nature take its course. My family is devastated. My immediate family are making travel plans, as soon as her heart stops they'll be heading for the boat and booking passage... We just did this last year for another cousin down there... it's just not fair.

And I'm stuck in the US. I hate immigration policy. hate it hate it hate it!

I am so sorry. Prayers are going to your family and to her that she passes peacefully. That is heartbreaking.

I'm so sorry. I remember how it felt to take Ethan off of life support (that's how we look at initiating his stillbirth). I can't bring him back, I just take some measure of comfort in that he would have continued suffering if DH and I hadn't made the decision to bring him into the world early. I'm so sorry you're losing your cousin, and I'm so sorry you can't be there. She was, and will always be, a beautiful girl.

Thanks ladies... I've never felt so helpless in my entire life.

As of right now they are keeping her comfortable. Keeping her sedated and on pain medication. she stopped responding to her name yesterday, which is why my cousin decided to do nothing to save her if she crashes again. With battens, a person is fully gone when they stop responding to their name. My mom's cousin Tash said today "Scott took her soul home yesterday." Scott is my dad, and he died two years ago esterday.

My heart is breaking. I know how this "wait and see" feels, I know the pure hell that is involved in a death watch. I don't wish it on anyone. I still pray when it's my time to go that I just don't wake up.. but i also don't want anyone in bed with me when it happens.

Thanks girls. My grandparents, who were intiaially going to wait to go down, are leaving tomorrow, passage is booked. Her kidneys are failing as of this morning. I wish this would happen fast, for vain reasons.. this family does long funeral viewing with an open casket.. and the longer it takes the worse her poor little body is going to look. I want her to look gorgeous, like a sleeping princess in her casket...She's always looked so peaceful in her sleep.

I'm so sorry Ashley. My heart goes out to you and your family. We did an open casket for my niece's funeral (she was only 16) and it was a beautiful ceremony.
