to admit when you need help? I have frequent depression episodes but they're almost all in the evening/night. Then during the day when I could call and do something about them, I feel fine and convince myself not to call.

Right now, I know I need to call. I have the phone in my lap. I talked to my nurse on FB last night and told her what was going on and to call me if I didn't call her, but dangit, WHY CAN'T I CALL?!

Augie there is nothing wrong with asking for a lil help....whether it be talking to someone or medication. Trust me I have been there.
Within a couple weeks of my first loss my 7 year relationship ended, I felt as if everything in my life was out of my control. I wont get into all the details but I ended up being depressed and having terrible anxiety. I talked to my primary care physician who started my on medication-it helped greatly.

Well I know you did call now.. but it's because you're terrified that asking for help will ruin your chances at fostering and adoption. You have sought treatment before, so the stigma of depression isn't your issue... you view it as one more obstacle to bringing home a baby.

I love you to death girlie, and I'm glad that we've finally gotten you to a point where you know you do need the help, regardless of the outcome.

*hugs*

^^ What Ash said.

It is also tough to admit there is something in your life that you can't control.

I hope you are taking the steps to getting yourself better. (((HUGS)))

Augie, everyone needs help sometimes, and certainly I'd worry about anyone going through what you are who DOESN'T need or ask for help. If you'd like to talk I'm here. Anytime! I'd truly love to listen and offer support if I can.

You can talk to a priest, too. That would be totally confidential. If you find the right one, it could help. The Episcopal priest who married my DH and me, and who blessed our two doomed baby boy twins while they were still alive, counseled me and was very sympathetic and helpful. She is wonderful in every way. I'm happy to give her your contact info if you'd like to get in contact via email or phone.

I'm sorry My depression usually comes on when AF comes around because of another failed cycle.. at these times I feel like getting help too but then it passes.
Are you home alone a lot in the evenings? That's why evenings are the hardest for me, my husband often works late. (((HUGS)))

I'm sorry Augie. I know what you mean, I struggled with the same issue for a long time. In the end I was seeing my GP for a regular checkup and he asked about our TTC efforts and I broke down and he gave me some phone numbers to call and made me feel better about needing help. Is there someone you know and trust already you could talk to before seeing a therapist, who maybe could refer you to one they know and trust?

Lex, I'm actually FB friend's with the Office Manager at my GP's office so I went there today. I've been officially dx'd with depression and will be starting meds tonight.

loves you girlie. I hope you get some sleep tonight and I hope you start to feel some relief (I hesitate to say better, because it doesn't fit) soon.
