I know a lot of you from other boards, but I suppose I should introduce myself anyway...I'm Lara, and I officially got the RPL title with only 2 losses when my OB agreed to run all of the RPL tests + karotyping a little earlier than normal and it flagged 2 problems: hetero for Factor II + elevated anticardiolipins. I was shipped off to an RE, who in addition to prescribing blood thinners + aspirin for next pregnancy then subsequently diagnosed a natural progesterone deficiency, which led to a whole treatment plan with clomid, later femara, ovidrel + prometrium.

I had an early loss on RE's watch, tweaked the treatment strategy and started blood thinners & prog earlier, and we thought with latest pregnancy we had finally found our "magic" treatment plan...but despite strong hb & growth at both 7wk & 8wk appts, I found out yesterday that baby passed away about a week ago and i'm now waiting to m/c again.

My OB (i had been discharged to her after 7wk appt showed healthy hb) indicated that when I go back into RE's care after this loss is completed, that there may be some additional tests (for rarer conditions) they may choose to test for. My question for anyone who may have done testing beyond the normal RPL panel is what types of tests are those?

Any and all info would be helpful...I like to be prepared for my RE meetings...and if anyone has a suggestion on other questions I should pose to RE at this point with 4 losses, 3 of which have been after HBs were established, I'd definitely appreciate advice/suggestions!

*hugs* I'm so sorry for your losses.

I wish I had an answer. My RE tested for a couple more clotting disorders and did Karyotyping but stopped there. Did your hubby have Karyotyping done as well?

I'm so sorry you had to come over here Lara. I saw your post yesterday (either in your ddc or w/ma, I'm all over the place) and my heart broke for you.

Have they done any testing on the babies yet? I know you are hoping to go natural, but it might give you some clues as to what is going on.

When doing the karotyping, did they check you both for translocations? I know a few other girls who have them, IVF is recommended as it's the only way to weed out the imbalanced embryos which don't survive.

*hugs*, I hope that they are able to find out what's going on and get you a rainbow baby quickly!!!!

thanks to both of you for the kind words, i know you've both suffered through so many losses yourself and i wish there were answers (and more importantly, solutions!) for all of us to get our happy ending finally.

Yes we both did karyotyping last Dec, and as far as I know they tested for everything they normally would translocation wise...everything came back fine from that test.

I haven't had any tested...my first loss was via D&C but my OB doesn't routinely test first loss. My 2nd I opted to complete naturally, so no testing and the 3rd was so early there wasn't anything to test. I am trying to complete this one naturally again (not sure if testing is feasible, even assuming i could collect enough to provide for testing) but if it doesn't start next week I have to schedule a D&C and then I will ask them to do testing. I would actually give me some peace if this loss turns out to just be chromosomal, but I honestly really fear a "baby was perfect" result b/c it would just crush me...it's a tough decision in some ways.
