I know we all know stuff about eachother - but I challenge us each to find something others may not know about us that we want to share. try to find something that others IRL would probably know about you.

I knwo this board is about tests & results & grief...but I wouldl iek to feel like I know you all a little better...so we have a richer experience in sharing...

I will go first...

I am a total mush - really easy to cry in movies, or things that are overly sweet...(like weddings)...
I love rainy days & sleeping in. I love the smell of fresh cut grass..and I am a bit lazy in general.
I would rather lay in the hammock & read than get up & weed. I love music of all kinds except country (sorry)...and I have absolutely NO singing ability.

Okay - not terribly important stuff - but still a little about me you may not know.

What a great idea Beckie!

I love being creative and enjoy photography (especially taking B&W photos), interior decorating, singing and acting. When I'm not working I can be found with close friends and family or hanging out at home with DH, our chocolate lab Molly, and our 2 cats (Kat & Bailey). I'm the eldest of 4 kids and all 3 still live at home with my parents (much to my parent's dismay).

I love to travel, read and enjoy romantic comedies and suspense movies. I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan and enjoy most music (especially U2, REM and 80's music). I also enjoy people watching (i.e. going to public places like a park or mall and sitting and watching people) and enjoy most reality tv (I think because I like to watch people).

I work as a Project Manager for a management consulting firm, but would like to be a teacher one day when I grow up. I love to learn something new and thrive on change.

***Okay...maybe that was a bit too much but you can't say you don't have a better idea of who I am!

There isn't really anything interesting about me But I'll try anyway.

I'm the baby of 5 kids and when I say baby, I mean baby! They were 9, 12, 15 and 16 when I was born. My sister was 15 and pregnant with my niece when I was born.

My MIL was my 1st grade teacher and my DH's grandfather was best friends with my grandfather so when we got together in high school it must have been fate for us to be together. So far it's lasted 19 years.

I work in a casino restaurant as a floor supervisor, but I'm soooooooooooooooo burned out on the tourist business. I want to go back to school to get my degree in Communications so I can GET OUT.

We have lived in Las Vegas for 13 years but will be moving as soon as our 17 year old graduates from High School next summer. I would pack up and move today but we promised him we would not make him leave all his friends before graduating. Then he'll be joining the Marines (and hopefully not get sent to Iraq).

I love Karaoke!!!!! (kinda cheesy I know but I can't help it)

Okay, that's about it.

Oooo...how fun!

I love movies, mostly comedy, action, and romantic comedy.
I listen to Christian pop music and sing along in the car (where no one else has to listen to my squawking).
I love to quilt and scrapbook, but haven't done much of either since we moved.
I love to read and am a huge 30-something Harry Potter fan! I also read lots of Janet Evanovich's novels, 'cause they're hilarious and her heros are gorgeous.

I love quilting too - I never work with a pattern though - I don't have enough patience & I somehow always screw it up - it's easier for me to work "freestyle"...although I am sure not everyone loves the outcome.
I can't get into scrapbooking - I don't think I am organized enough - I would have to actually put the photos into the albums fist...

I love crafts, especially scrapbooking and cross stitch (although I have given up cross stitch for awhile because I made a HUGE mistake on a project and need a break).

I was in the Air Force and learned Korean.

I work at McDonalds 2 days a week (about 12 hours), just to get out of the house and am a SAHM the rest of the time.

I also love to watch people.

I don't like furry animals, especially cats and dogs (although DH is working on me about the dogs because he would like one some day).

I am addicted to Coke, but don't drink tea or coffee at all.

I'm the oldest sibling in my family.

I am addicted to JM (okay, who here isn't??).

This is so fun! I really enjoyed reading about everyone! I mean we share such intimate secrets, fears, our souls practically it's only natural to want to know one another more I think. Great idea Beck!
I just want to say before I start I love U2 also, I am a reality tv show junkie, and sooo enjoy people watching as well...paticularly watching people dance...i could do that all day, it cracks me up!!! And Vegasmom-I agree you are interesting!!!!!

Well let's see a little about me:
-I LOVE animals...I use to say i loved baby animals more than baby people but that may have changed as of late due to my desire to be a mom being so immense. I do have to admit though that if a person dies in a movie I MIGHT cry...but if an animal dies in a movie...forget it! I'm done! totally bawling fest...as a child my mother did not let me watch disney animal films due to almost having to commit me after watching Bambi
So I have one Baxter (he's a bull mastiff/golden retriever mix) and 1 Bailey (Nykol, I have a Bailey cat too!!!!) That's all for now but someday I'd love another dog or maybe even a horse!
-I love to read autobiographies...currently am reading Teri Hatcher's book "Burnt Toast" not really an autobiography but I guess I just love reading about real people (probably goes back to the people watching, I am such a voyeur LOL! )
-I work as a mental health therapist with children. I love working with kids whom people deem "problematic" only to find their innermost beauty and spirit... I hope to own my own practice someday, maybe even an agency funded by grants where I can offer not just traditional therapy but play therapy, art therapy, dance therapy...that's my dream...
-I am the also the "baby" in my family. I have 2 sisters, 10 and 14 years older than me. we don't get along all that well, paticularly my eldest sister but we remain cordial for my parent's sake...
-I enjoy movies but only watch them once...not the type to watch a movie over and over again. Romantic comedies, movies based on a true story (there I go again), suspense films...almost anything really as long as it's good.
-I am a clean/neat freak. Probably has to do with me being a bit controlling. I LOVE the smell of pine sol LOL!
- I am totally into fashion/make up/hair....I'm totally a girlie girl.
-I love to dance! I use to be a dancer (ballet/tap/jazz) but those days are over (too old ) so I just take the opportunity to dance at weddings, parties, and occassionally a good dance class for fitness purposes only.
-I try to eat healthy (no sugar or white flour) and exersice at least 3 times a week.
-I am addicted to coffee...Starbucks Carmel frappicinos to be exact but if those aren't available I'll take whatever's browm liquid with caffine
-My favorite colors are brown and purple.
-I am totally and completely in lvoe with my husband...i think he's the most handsome man I have ever seen
-I HATE my in-laws although I am trying to not hate them so much and maybe just dislike them really strongly.

Ok so that's me in a nutshell!

edited to add since it's probably obvious...I also am known for talking a lot and love telling a story LOL!

Becky-
I have been working on my AA degree in communications with an emphasis in broadcasting. I'd like to get into radio and television news production and writing. I'd then like to follow up with a degree in journalism. I have had to take some time off due to pg but would like to go back in the spring when my DH gets his degree. Right now with the little one we both can't take classes.

Norina-
I don't get along very well with my siblings either. I haven't seen my oldest brother or my sister in 25 years and the youngest of my brothers commited suicide in 97 but I had disowned him prior to his death. I really only have one brother that I am in contact with.
I am sooooooo addicted to Starbucks caramel fraps. I get mine with extra caramel and it has to be so thick it gets stuck in the straw!
You are never too old to dance, never stop!!

Mmmmm....Starbucks! I'm sipping on an Iced Grande Non-fat Cafe con Leche as I type this. I also love the Caramel Macchiato's, and DH & I brew the Arabian Mocha Sahani coffee at home. Yep...I've found my kindred souls here at JM! I even have their store directory in my glove compartment for when I'm in new cities. Starbucks is like magnetic North for me!

I'm really enjoying getting to know everybody a bit better. Everybody is so fascinating and has a story to tell. Vegasmom...I can't even imagine working in Las Vegas, let alone live there. How exciting it must be on some days, but how draining it must be to live in a tourist destination.

As for my fellow people watchers...I'm so glad I'm not the only one. DH & I like to go to the big mall a few days before Christmas and watch people. It's hilarious and even more funnt on Christmas Eve (if we have the time) to watch people run around all crazy. You can learn so much about human nature.

I guess I'll chime in with the "people watching" theme. I love to do that. But my DH hates it.

Wow...isn't it weird how difficult it is to think of interesting things about yourself!

The year I was ten, we were building a house way out in the country. It took them 7 months to put in electric lines that would reach our home on a mountain top. So I actually lived without electricity for that time. That's when I became a voracious reader. Give me a book (about almost anything...but yes, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan too!) and a place to sit and I'm happy for hours.

I'm almost never bored and I tend to be a little lazy too (Bec). I totally enjoy relaxing.

My mom was the hippie-type and remember going to sit-ins and protest as a child. Once I was tear-gased.

DH and I run a recording studio. We live, and work together 24/7 and we haven't killed each other yet! Actually, we're very much in love. Dh is a very talented musician who went to Berkley College of Music in Boston (I can actually think of tons of interesting things to tell you about DH!)

I've had labrabor retrievers most of my life. My current one is Autumn (Peacemaker's Misty Autumn). She's 8 yrs old...check out her pic on my avatar. She's one of the sweetest souls I've ever had the privilege to know but man, does she shed too much!

That's it...I can't think of even one more remotely interesting thing about me!

Love,

Nykol and Vegas mom- Mmmmmmmmmm Yummmmmmmmmm...makes me want one with extra carmel right now! Might have to go get one...although it really jacks with my "no sugar" diet. I've switched to coffee light fraps but sometimes I do cheat and revert back to the good ol'carmel ones .
And thanks for the encouragement to keep dancing...I do love it, it's just so funny how much my body doesn't agree with it at times (back hurts, etc LOL!).
AS for my siblings, I always said it was liek growing up with 3 mothers...and believe me my "real" mom is enough...I think they've always been a bit resentful simply because I was born. Who knows...all I know is they both have a tendency to do some pretty jealous/not so nice things at times.
And my in laws are totally crazy...i'm talking lock them up and throw away the key crazy. So I hope you'll don't think I'm a big trouble maker LOL! I actually ahve a ton of friends. I just kinda have a hard time with letting toxic people interfere with my life ykwim?

Okay so I'll tell a little more...

What I do for a living is a littel hard to explain simply because it's an odd industry for a woman...

My company does repair services for large manufacturing presses...presses that make shovels & hammers & car parts, etc...we also buy & sell used metal-forming equipment - predominately presses...and we stock parts or make them from print if necessary. I do sales. I call manufacturing facilities or visit them & speak to the maintenance staff or sometimes people in purchasing about their repair needs, take photos & bring it back to quote jobs. It's actually kind of fun at times - particularly because there are very few women in the industry & especially younger women & I feel like I get to suprise the guys all the time by what I know. I dress nice, but I always wear black (grease & soot) - and industrial boots...with a nice suit I have to wear pants - or I can't go into a plant & I have to wear something sleeveless under my blazer becasue some have restriction on long -sleeves.

I also paint - draw, sculpt a bit. I really enjoy all types of artistic expression - although sadly I get very little time to do so anymore. Perhaps after I get off the road I can pick it up more - I truly want to do a showing.

Beckie,
That sounds like a cool job! I had a feeling you were in sales because of your travel schedule, but I absolutely did not have manufacturing presses on my radar screen...

About me:
I am a classically trained musician. I play the oboe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oboe), which is a woodwind instrument that not many people can identify, but you hear all the time on tv and in the movies. For instance, all of the Harry Potter movies have lots of oboe because John Williams likes the double reed instruments (oboe, English horn, bassoon, and contrabassoon). It is also a big solo instrument in orchestras, and it sounds horrible when played by kids just beginning, so I apologize if anyone has had to suffer through that!

I can also bumble my way through the rest of the woodwind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon), but I don't claim to sound that good.

I also have a 9 to 5 office job which I like, mostly because I don't want to be a starving artist!

By the way, Candace, Berklee is a great school.

By the way, Candace, Berklee is a great school.[/b]

I like the oboe!! My 17 year old plays the trumpet in the high school band and there is a whole family (7 kids) and they have all been through the band and they ALL play the oboe. I spend a majority of the year watching either concerts for Jazz and Symphonic or marching band. I can say I remember 7 years ago when he first started playing the trumpet and I'll bet it doesn't sound any worse than beginning oboe

And now I have to make a confession..........
I TOO AM A HARRY POTTER A HOLIC. Is there some kind of a recovery program?
A perfect day for me would be one where I could sleep in as late as I want. Then lay in bed and read any Harry Potter book AND drink a Starbucks and later go out to karaoke with my friends. Sounds kinda hokey I know, but you know they say "simple pleasures for simple minds" LOL

THAT IS INSANE!!! You know, with 7 kids, they could have their own band. Forget that much oboe. There is a reason that it is a solo instrument - it sounds bad when played by a lot of people at once (definitely not like a violin or something like that). Not too mention how much they must have spent on reeds (the part you blow into). It's part of a professional oboist's job to make their own reeds, so I haven't bought any in a long time, but they're like $15 bucks a pop!

Oh yeah, that would be another thing I do, but it's only cause I have to... I have to make reeds, which is more or less like whittling, so I have some cool looking knives and such.

Speaking of Harry Potter - I love it too! Actually, in the fourth movie Voldemort's theme music is played by the English horn, which is like a big oboe. It sounds nice and creepy.

I can't wait for Book 7 or movie 5, whichever comes first! My favorite Starbucks drink at the moment is the Green Tea Frappacino, but I also like all of the coffee drinks (mmm.... coffee).
