My DH called me today at work to ask me to come home because our dog Boomer died in his arms this morning. I'm very sad. He was just like one of our family and I miss him so much. I like to think he's running and playing with my little angels.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Our pets are family, too, and it really hurts to lose one.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Just know we are all thinking about you. At our house our furbabies are cats, but they are a part of the family none the less.

Oh sweetie - I am so sorry. I know for me, the loss of my kitty Oscar in 2004 - has chancged me forever. For some I suppose they are just pets, but for many, they truly are family & their loss is immense. I am sorry your family is experiencing such a loss...and I will keep you all in thoughts & prayers.

Much love-

I'm so, so sorry about the loss of your Boomer! I know exactly what you mean...my Autumn (yellow lab) is totally a member of my family and an important part of my life. She's eight years old and I dread the day that I'll be without her.

If you feel up to talking about him...I'd love to hear about him.
How old was he...what kind of dog?

Hugs to you and your family. I know this is so hard.

Love,

Boomer was 8 years old. We adopted him from the Animal Foundation where he had been taken after he was seized along with 6 other dogs from an abusive home. He was with 6 big dogs and had to fight for every last bit of food he got and was severely under weight when we got him. He was the sweetest tri-color cocker spaniel you ever saw. He had these 3 stuffed animals we called his babies and he had to know where they were at all times (treated them just like they were his own puppies). He was definitely mamas dog. Where I was, Boomer was sure to be right there. During the last 6 years he was always at my side to protect me. When we brought the baby home 2 months ago, he sat next to the bassinett and wouldn't let anyone near it and if I was in the other room when the baby started to cry he would come and get me. You know, in so many ways I believe that not only did we save him and give him a great life that he might not of had otherwise but he actually saved us instead. I'm really going to miss him.
Boomer is the black and white one and Frankie is the buff.

Thanks for sharing Boomer's story with us. I can hear the love for him right in your words. He sounds like a good friend and I'm glad you two found each other. Was Boomer ill? How is your other pup doing?

Once again, I'm sorry for the loss of your loved one. BTW...he was a very cute pup.

Hugs,

I'm so sorry hun. I can only imagine what you're going through right now. We have 3 furbabies (a chocolate lab named Molly, and 2 cats named Kat & Bailey) and I dread the day that they are no longer around. It's amazing how animals become so apart of our families. Their love is so unconditional and they are so forgiving. Sometimes I feel like I have a better connection with animals than I do with people.

My my fil & mil lost their yellow lab this past winter and I've seen the hole that it's left in their hearts and home. My heart goes out to you and your family.

He had a thyroid condition, but was on meds for it. I honestly think he had cancer in his lungs because over the last few months he had been wheezing and had a hard time breathing. We took him to the vet and they said it was most likely allergies. My DH was actually putting his leash on him to take him to the vet today and he just fell and passed right then.
