I got hit with a sore throat and cold like a ton of bricks yesterday!

Anyone have any good home remedies safe during pregnancy?
Of course my midwife told me to get plenty of rest and lots of fluids; she also gave me a list of a few things I can take OTC, but I'm very hesitant and they are mostly for allergy symptoms which I do not have.

I think I took some zinc tablets gingerly when I had a sore throat and was pregnant with Bryson. They seemed to help but I didn't take too many of them just because I was scared of everything. Honey may help soothe it a bit if you have any at home but it won't make it go away any faster. I hope you feel better soon!

Hot tea with honey and lemon will help soothe the sore throat. Also black tea with ginger.
You could also gargle with hot water and salt to help your throat.
Chicken soup has been found in studies to be an effective way of relieving cold symptems.
You might also want to use a cool mist humidifier. And Vics Vaporub.
Other home remedies for a cold are lime, garlic, inhaling steam.

I believe echinasia is safe durring pregnancy- but ask your M/W first. EmergenC and Airborne are both safe to take- they're just vitamins. Accupuncture can also help, and milk thistle is safe- a 2-3 cups of that a day will help your liver function- which is so healthy, and especially will help your symptoms fade faster.

I've nursed myself with lots of rest, fluids, soup and hot water with lemon this afternoon.

A really good health remedy and it's easy to make is hot water with a tablespoon or so of apple cider vinegar with lemon juice and some honey and drink it like a tea. It works wonders!!
