Well after drowning myself with 100 ounces of water a day the fluid level hasn't gone up- but it hasn't gone down either. I have to have weekly sono's now, when I didn't want any to begin with. The doc said if I dip below 7cm he wants to admit me in the hospital and pump me full of fluids. 5cm is suppose to be the crucial number where they re-hydrate you and monitor the baby. He said it is possible that my fluid maintains itself at 8cm, but now at 34 weeks is when fluid levels start to decline. This is really stressful because no one has any info. I've read online to drink lots of fluids or try IV fluids but nothing else. Baby is doing great. He is right on target and very active.

I fear that this could lead to the path of early induction and ultimately a c-section. I want a NCB so badly.
I just don't know what to do at this point!

I am so sorry. Try to keep drinking a ton of water each day and hopefully you won't have to go in for fluids. It's good to hear that your baby boy is doing great though.

I'm sorry to hear that there wasn't an increase in fluid. I hope that things improve for you so that you can avoid being induced. I'm sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way.

I'll keep you in my T&P...

even if you do need to go into the hospital for rehydration- it is better then an induction.

you also may want to start looking at the risks of low fluid... I don't know too much about it yet- but often doctors are so fixated by numbers and whatnot.... :rolleyes I've read that your baby's signs of health and activity are much more important.

I agree with Cheryl! I have heard fluid levels can safely go to 4cm before induction, so hopefully you can find some information on it!

Thanks for all the support ladies. This week I am trying something my midwife suggested. I have to dissolve a tablespoon of natural sea salt under my lounge twice a day. I may blow up like a balloon, but it may help me retain my fluids better. I go back for another sonogram on Tuesday. I had my midwife appointment today and I totally lost it. I didn't want to cry because I didn't want to lose more fluids- but I just couldn't help it. She said if my fluid is below 7cm I cannot birth at the birth center. It just feels like everything I've worked so hard for is slipping away. I am so scared- but I'm not giving up yet. I guess at this point I just have to take it one week at a time.

Dang it Brittany! I really, really hope your fluids stay about 7. Keep drinking tons of water and doing the salt thing your midwife suggested. I hope this helps. I'm sending lots of T&P your way that you get to have your little one safely and as naturally as possible. *HUGS*

I'll keep you in my prayers!

if you do need to deliver at the hospital- will your midwife act as a doula for you, and help you labor at home for part of your labor?

I'm here, and with good news. My fluid level went up (10.5 cm) and my water birth is back on!!!!!! I am so relieved. I tried everything and I guess the one thing that worked was not trying (maybe stress was a factor). I was fully prepared to fight an induction unless it was at the critical level. I am still going to keep up the water intake and the sea salt. My little man is doing great.

Thanks for all the support and prayers. You guys are wonderful.
