Hi all! I'm fairly new to the boards (I read a lot, but don't find myself posting too often it seems) and I'm due in May 2009.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of or used the Leboyer Method? My mom used this with me (28 years ago) so she told me about it. But I wasn't sure if it was a method that was still used in delivery?

I'm currently in the process of shoring up my confidence that I can do a natural child birth. I had been reluctant to commit to any one type of method or birth plan because I know that a lot of unexpected things can happen during labor and delivery so I didn't want to pigeon hole myself and then get really disappointed if things didn't turn out the way that I wanted them to. But, again with the recommendation of my mom she told me that if I don't commit to going natural then I'll most likely end up with drugs. So here I am. :-)

I read about some of that while I was pregnant. If I remember right it is about a stress free environment. Dim lights, candles, soft music, etc. It sounds like a good plan to me. As long as you have a good support system to help you deal with contractions I think it will turn out great. If I didnt remember everything Im sorry. I have post pregnancy brain.

I've never heard of it. I think the three most popular methods used for NCB right now are the Bradley method, Hypnobirthing, and Hypnobabies....that I am aware of anyway.
