He is doing a lot better! He was pretty much back to his normal self today, getting into everything. I've had the humidifier on in our room, which is where Nicholas sleeps/naps also. He doesn't have a barky cough or scratchy voice at all any more, although I am still giving him the meds that the hospital gave him just to make sure that it doesn't come back!
I'm so glad to hear that he is doing much better now! I know you must have been so worried that first night because that's not like him. You must have been exhausted the next few days as well with not getting much sleep. How are you feeling now? I'm guessing the croup is not contagious?
No, croup is not contagious. What causes it is if the baby/child has a cold or congestion, the "yuckiness" moves from the chest or the head into the vocal box, swelling their vocal cords and everything in their throat, making it hard for them to breath and causing the barky like cough.
I'm feeling okay, I'm still getting over the cold that caused this whole thing, but I'm doing much better than I was last week. I just have a bit of a stuffy nose and a little cough, nothing too bothersome.
