I was so excited about giving birth, but as the days have worn on the past week, I am getting more and more apprehensive about the birth. I can't just back out of this now can I, put the baby back and decide I no longer want to be pregnant?

I know I can do this, but the more time I have to think about it all, the more I think of the negatives of labor and birth, like the pain, and start to kind of dread it. Does anyone have any stories, websites or videos to share to inspire me? I think my apprehension could only delay my labor longer and I need to get excited about it again like I have been the whole pregnancy.

Awww, I think what you're going through is totally normal. I don't have any websites to share, but do you have Ina May's Guide to Childbirth? I read the stories in the 1st half of that book all the time and just feel inspired and proud to be a woman every time I do!
You can do this and just remember that any pain or anything you are feeling apprehensive about is all very temporary and has a purpose....bringing your beautiful baby to your arms!!!!

I agree that it's normal and I also agree about reading those birth stories. Heck, read the stories posted here. They in themselves are inspirational! Also, once you do go into labor, you will forget about all that apprehension and will be so excited again. It won't be much longer sweetie. *HUGS*

It IS very normal. All we do at that stage is think about the birth. Being pregnant is every part of us, we're huge, can barely move, so tired, achy, etc.

I really echo what Patience said. The Ina May book is just wonderful. Check your library!

There are TONS of birth stories online. We have some here. I linked some in another thread...

eta: waterbirth info and stories:

Also if you search youtube there are LOTS and LOTS of videos of natural/water/home births (including mine)

We live in a small town, so our library is tiny and I don't think they would carry it. I wish I would have thought about it earlier today though, we were at the mall with a huge bookstore, which probably had it. I'll read the stories online and hopefully that will help!
I had some very regular and steady contractions for a few hours last night that mimiced real labor, and it honestly scared me a little. I didn get a rush thinking, this could be it, but I was trying to relax and remember that they were doing thier job. Hopefully my instincts kick in when I'm in real labor and I can just go with the flow.

Your instincts will kick in, I'm sure of it. Yay for the contractions last night. Hopefully that made some progress for you so your labor will be easy and short. I'm thinking of you Andrea!
