Im so excited!! I finally met a woman IRL that has the same childbirth views that I do! She lives down the street from me and I was talking to her today about how far along she was and everything when I heard her say midwife. Well that didnt mean much because I had a midwife deliver Brynn and I was induced/episiotomy/epidural the whole works. So I just kind of casually asked her what midwife she was seeing and she said she was out in a city by here. Then of course I ask the dreaded question that everyone asks... what HOSPITAL are you delivering at and she just paused and didnt say anything. Finally she says actually we are going to have the baby at home!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just about died! We talked for a while but I was in a bookstore and people started giving me rude looks but I was just too estatic! I finally have someone to talk to IRL. AND she lives literally within walking distance of my house!!
Now I want to have a homebirth too!!
She even told me that she was scared to say anything which is why she paused because of all the stuff people have been telling her! So Im kind of glad she found me as more support!
ETA: I have met Brittany IRL too! I meant that I havent met online first. LOL.
Momma to Brynn 10/2/2002 (midwife at hospital)
Emme 5/26/2008 (midwife at freestanding birth center)
Pierce 11/28/2009 (midwife at freestanding birth center)
One of my most favorite patients came in yesterday, i had not seen her in a few months. She is 5.5 weeks pregnant and told me she is going to go to my birth center!! I was soooooooooo excited. So that makes two of my patients at the birth center. The other gazillion are all drugs all the way and not afraid to say it one of my patients who i saw yesterday is 38 weeks. She went to a birthing class and closed her eyes during the birth video. She is going to just get an epidural when she walks thru the door. I was very sad for her. What do people expect when they pregnant?
That is awesome! Women with our views on childbirth are a rare find. With the way my birth ended I'm getting a lot of "I told you so" from people but everyone around me is having their NCB turn out wonderfully. It's hard not to feel jealous- but I am- terribly jealous. I was so ###### close!!!!!! Even with the way things ended I don't regret trying to go natural. So people think I'm really nuts when I say I want to try again next time, if DH will ever agree to us having another. It's nice to find support where you can. I think it's great you met someone on your own street who shares those views.
