While it's great that maybe this will get people to rethink too early c-sections I think it just shows the state that this country is in when it comes to birth. When the doctor has to persuade the mom to "bite the bullet" and wait a few more days to have her c-section to ensure that her baby will be healthier, there is something seriously wrong.

Lurking..."He delivered a healthy baby girl on Tuesday after persuading her mother to wait a few more days for a C-section, even though last week would have been more convenient for both mother and doctor..."

Well if you are looking for convenience in childbirth you should not have kids...

Don't even get me started on the whole convenience bull crap! LOL.

They have had articles saying the same about induction and that babies induced at 38 weeks have similar issues to those listed in the c-section article.

Ugh.

I have a friend who is pregnant right now who is planning her c-section....since about 12 weeks pregnant. It's her first baby, too. I try to just keep my mouth shut whenever she talks about it. I can't believe she doesn't even want to give childbirth a chance!

I think this is so sad...and pathetic.

I agree, if you're that concerned about convenience that you would put it above the well being of your child, you should not be having children.

I saw this headline earlier, didn't read the story though. I guess in a way, it *is* a good thing....but somehow it still feels yucky.

I think this is just so un-ethical!

A major surgery for no real reason? It makes NO sense at all!!!

That is so bad!! Seriously, acting like a martyr because the woman waited until 39 weeks and missed out on a tax deduction!!

I just don't get it!!
