Today at my appt. my MW did a stretch and sweep and then sent me home with 2 bottles of Castor Oil. I'm supposed to take the first in the morning and the second 4 hours later if I'm still not in labor. If that doesn't work, I'm going to cry!!

If I'm still pregnant on Friday they want me to come in and do another membrane stripping and then maybe cervadil. All in hopes of avoiding induction.

Come out cozy baby!! I don't want to drink Castor oil!!

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH THE DREADED CASTOR OIL! Be close to a toilet after you drink it! Man that stuff is the pits!!!
I had cervidil suppositories inserted 2 nights in a row with my first born when I was induced before it did any good.
Good luck honey!!! Hang in there!

Try cumin tea! It doesn't taste great, but it is better than castor oil!

You use the whole seeds if you have them, if not the ground kind is ok. Make it into tea. The spice gets the bowls moving like the castor oil but it isn't as terrible. You should put a sliver of raw potato and can use honey to flavor it. It didn't put me in labor, but my contractions increased everytime I drank it! THe potato takes away some of the yucky taste. I had a loose tea leaf container I used to brew it, but you can brew without one and then strain it.

Also, I have heard rubbing the castor oil on your belly works too. Rub it in and then cover it with a warm compress.

Aww hun, your little baby is just loving it's last bit of quality time in that uterus of yours. Come out little one! My MW told me to mix the castor oil with either scrambled eggs or orange juice. HTH!

Did you take the Castor Oil this morning yet? Anything? I've also heard it's easier to take when combined with orange juice. Maybe add it to smoothie to disquise the taste. Good luck!

I wouldn't add it to orange juice, B/c the acidity of the citrus, on the way out, will NOT be plesant. But you can also mask the taste really well with root beer- I don't know why, but that works really well. Stir right up untill you drink it.

I hope it works!

Aw, Cheryl, I didn't even think about the acidity. Yuck!

This site has some recipes, although many included juice The one with ice cream and cola, like a rootbear float, sounded decent. Of course, I have no idea how disgusting castor oil is.

I drank the Castor Oil with OJ during my 1st pregnancy after my OB stripped my membranes - AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!! NEVER would I do that again even if someone paid me!

When I was 11 days past due with my 2nd I did the rootbeer and it was more tolerable but I still gagged terribly trying to get it down.

That stuff is for the birds!!!!
But if it worked for Stephanie - good!

If you someday have clients trying this the big key is to keep stirring stirring stirring, even between gulps. It's funny how many recipes there are out there!
