This is why you should always leave it up to God, and not terminate the pregnancy just because something could happen.

So cool! You know, I have heard that the sac can reseal. Is this not common or just not common knowledge? And of course the fluid will be replaced if you stay hydrated unless there is an underlying issue.

From my understanding if there is a small break in the bag, as in a trickle of fluid or only a small gush then it can reseal over much time, but more often what is meant by resealing is that baby's head will drop and cover the cervix, preventing more water from leaking. So it is really patched.

At 16 weeks a baby is not near big enough to do that, nore positioned right. So any extra fluid being made was just falling out, and that baby should be dead from having no water for so long. What a true miracle.

Yes, it is definitely a miracle that the baby survived in the dry uterus,, simply amazing. I think if I were in her position of a choice between certain death and a miracle I would do exactly the same thing!

I think my main reason for loving this article is the doctors insistance that you can't have ruptured membranes for more than 24 hours or all heck will break loose. Keep you intruments and fingers, etc. out of my vagina and the risk will be reduced.

I actually read a birth story on here awhile ago where someone's water broke at like...22 weeks I think? The doctor's told her to get ready to deliver a stillborn baby. She essentially asked them to just wait and see what happens...so they did and she delivered in the 30 weeks range...I can't quite remember but the baby certainly survived and didn't have any immediate drastic problems.

Ever since I read that story I just think to myself that if my water breaks early I'll just keep them out of my vagina until the baby is coming. If that lady hadn't thought to question the doctor's...well if either of them hadn't, then the world would be short two beautiful children.
