From what I heard, he told her the risk of her BP dropping, and that sometimes the epidural won't work the way she wants. He told her they don't want it to go into the blood vessel, but not why or what could happen, he told her they don't want it to go into the dural space, and that it could cause headaches.

he also said "as always there's a risk of infection"

I dont' know... he kinda babbled on about it without really saying anything.

That is what I was thinking. And taking a PERSONAL call, I would have been livid!!!! He should have finished working with her and then called his son back!

I too had a hard time understanding what he was saying, but from what I caught, he was very vague...But was she even listening anyway?!...She was ready to get it no matter what he said!...that so annoys me...Did she look like her pain was Unbearable to you?...
Oh, and the personal call...totally unprofessional!...But of coarse, this is just my opinion...

I think possibly it could be enough information if she was not in labor, the complications for the epidural for general surgery or pain management. But, in my opinion the docs should also be telling the risks for baby and labor in general, not just the risks of what will happen to mom.

umm yay she did not look that bad off to NEED an epidural! The personal call was annoying.. I thought it was her doctor at first, but no..

I was given many details on problems when I had mine. But I think its because the doctor that gave me mine, kept telling me his wife has had 3 natural labors, that I didn't have to have one.. I had already made my mind up at that point to get one though. You live you learn, luckily my child nor I suffered from it
