Hi Everyone

i love to join you guys. My name is Esther, and my hubbys name is Ryan. We have an 18 month old son named Kayden. I am hoping to have a NCB and possibly a homebirth. Kaydens birth was in the hospital. At the time i didn't see anything wrong with it, but now looking back I think things could have gone much differently for the better.
Just hoping I can join you and talk to others who have or will be going through the same thing
Esther

Welcome Esther!!!! Very exciting that you are looking into a home birth. Anything in particular with your son's birth that you were not happy about, or just looking for an overall different experience?

welcome! Homebirths are just the most amazing thing... I bet you'll love it. Have you found a midwife yet?

there were a few things. the first was the doctor was delivering his third baby that night, and he just wanted to go HOME!! thats basically what set the stage. I had gone into labour at 1:00 am with a bad stomach ache, and he was born by 5:57 am. The whole time everything had to be done quick quick quick ( from the doc ) i came to the hospital at 8 cm. And was in transition for two hours and then my labour stopped!! ( my midwife now tells me that was just my body resting for pushing, makes sense to me.) My doc just wanted to get home so he gave me pitocin. ( totally unecessary). After 1/2 hour my contacts started to be more productive so I was told to push. After a few minutes of that the doctor started talking about forceps ( baby was NOT in distress. ) He gave me a huge episiotomy, and then I freaked cause I didn't want forceps ( my sister had had them and almost bled to death. )In a few pushes I pushed him out!!! with out forceps.

All in all I don't see anything wrong with episiotomys, pitocin and forceps, etc. IF they are necessary. But in my case they just weren't. I had only been in labour for a few hours!! Kayden was NOT in distress, and I was in no danger of ripping naturally. The doc just wanted to be in bed. ( by the way, that doc is now an er doc, he quit being an OB.) At the time I didn't care, I still don't really, I just wanna see how much better it can be

Welcome Esther! I don't blame you for wanting a different experience from your last one. I bet you'll really love a home birth experience! I'm Cindy, one of the co-hosts here (our other co-host is on vacation in Hawaii for a few more days) and mommy to Bryson (15 months). We are also expecting our second son at the end of May. I can't wait to get to know you better and I'm so glad you've joined us here!
