I had my 30 wk appt yesterday and it ends up that right now the baby is breech. I know it's still early and there is plenty of time for the baby to flip on it's own, but I'm still upset. I really want to have a natural, vaginal birth. I know there are tons of things I can do if the baby doesn't flip on it's own, but I hate that it's one more thing I have to worry about, ya know?

Also, just wondering when is a good time to start doing things like chiropractic, accupuncture, etc? I just worry if I were to do those things now that if he flipped, he could flip back to a breech position. And I was also thinking maybe I should give him time to flip on his own. Any advice would help, my dr didn't really lead me in any directions...

with acupuncture, I usually tell my patients closer to 34 weeks to start working on it! What did your midwife suggest?

^ she didn't suggest anything! she just said I'm still really at this point and that's it! which, I know is true but I was hoping for a little more support, because no matter how "early" I am, its still disappointing!

It never hurts to see the chiro. I started seeing one at 23 weeks and the baby didn't flip until 36 weeks! The thing with the chiro is it helps to open the pelvis so the baby can have room to get into position, usually the baby will not turn back to breech. With an external version they are more likely to because there is a reason teh baby was breech to begin with, and if you don't fix that reason then the baby will assume the position of comfort.

As for the breech tilts, music, ice and the other contortions (of which I have done them all) I would wait until 34-16 weeks.

This is just from my experience, but I'd give it a few weeks before you start really thinking about it. My baby was head up at 30 w, head down at 34 w, head up at 36 w and head down at 37 w (with a lot of help). My m/w and the chiro both told me that babies have more room to flip after your first baby because everything is a little more stretched. I would, however, make sure you get another u/s to verify the baby's position when you are a little farther along. I felt like waiting until 36 w for another u/s for me was way TOO late. Hang in there...I totally understand how you're feeling.

32-34 weeks is a good time to work on it. But if you have access to an indor pool some headstands/summersults wouldn't be bad. Also- you can always do things like talking to your baby, etc.

It's so hard not to freak out when you hear that, isn't it??? I did the same thing! I was 32 weeks when we had the u/s that showed baby to be breech. I spent the past two weeks reading everything I could and getting prepared to do whatever I needed to do, even though the midwife and my doula and my mother and everyone but the trashman said it was too early to worry! LOL! I posted about the hypnobabies mp3 that I downloaded and listened to and I have seen a chiro in the past, but hadn't been for a while, so he started working on me again. And, my baby has turned! Now, we are hoping (s)he doesn't turn again...but I'm going to keep up with the chiropractor (it's good for you anyway, right?) and keep thinking positive thoughts and go from there. I have another midwife appt. on Monday and then my next is 36 weeks and I go every week after that, so they'll be checking me. Rest assured, I'll update you all!!! Good luck - and I'll tell you what everyone keeps saying - Try not to Worry! LOL!
