My last baby was a NCB VBA2C. So, I had to have a hep lock (turned into IV fluids because of baby's heartrate) and monitoring (but it was a telemetry unit). I had AROM, but it was 5 minutes before baby was born because it was bulging so much, and my midwife asked if she could please break it so it wouldn't explode on her. LOL
When I first got to the hospital, my midwife showed up, too. She stayed there with me until the baby was born. When the nurses came in, they asked me what my pain level was. My midwife said, "She declines to answer." The nurses insisted that they needed to know, and my midwife was adamant that I was NOT in pain, and they would kindly stop assuming so. LOL She was great. I don't remember ever seeing a nurse after that until it was time to push.
